Farewell Reception Honors Wall Family At Fletcher Church

The Fletcher E church hosted a farewell reception Tuesday for Mr and Mrs John Wall and family members including Elsie and Frances Wall Flora S Wall, A C Jones and family, Fred Stephens and Aaron Jackson. About two hundred attended from local and out of town including representatives from Friends and Christian churches. Rev C N Willson spoke on the community loss and invited guests to the League room for punch and cakes.

Widow Mrs Gilbert Rests After A Quiet Life

Mrs Gilbert died Friday night at the home of her sister Mrs Sarah Johnson after a long illness. Born August 8 1842 in Southampton County Virginia she lived through the Civil War era. She married Joel Gilbert of Hopewell. he died earlier. Interment followed at Walnut Ridge with a Friends church observance led by local ministers and a large gathered funeral party from several towns.

Whitton Couple Honored on 63rd Birthday Dinner

Mrs R. S. Whitton entertained Thursday October 19 honoring her husband on his sixty third birthday. Guests included W. W. Peters of Knightstown, David Whitton, Miss Edna Whitton of Richmond, and Mr and Mrs C. E. Winkler and three children. Guests wished him many happy returns and departed.

Mrs Effie Haywood Stevens widow of Oliver Stevens died suddenly at six thirty Wednesday morning aged 42 years 2 months 5 days. She left two daughters Grace and Mary with Isadee Bitner as her guardian since their father was killed in a runaway accident thirteen years ago. Funeral Friday at 10 am at East Street Christian church with Rev Carl R Berry officiating and pallbearers including Henry Haywood Elmer Haywood Oliver Haywood John Downey Cliff Addison and Allen Jessup. Interment Walnut Ridge. Lewis and Son Funeral Directors.

Aunt Mima Smith Recovers Warm Welcome From Family

Relatives cleaned and prepared the home of Aunt Jemima Smith at Newton Smith’s house for winter under the supervision of her daughter in law Mrs Coleman of St Paul. A surprise donation party followed her return, and a letter with money from her Florida based son arrived, bringing joy to the elderly, lonely woman.
