Rush County Extension Office estimates a good 135 5 ACRE corn yield contest crop with an average of 125.5 bushels per field, lower than 1963 and 1962 records. Eighty participants have three-year continuity. moisture declined to 27.7 percent as several fields near safe cribbing. Top township yields were Union 138.1, Jackson 132.3, Noble 130.8, Center 130.7 bushels. Official results expectedlate November or early December.

Injury to Miss Judy Kennedy Near Riley Hospital
Miss Judy Kennedy suffered a severe knee injury and back strain after tripping on a sidewalk curb near Riley Hospital at the LA Medical Center in Indianapolis. Her leg is in a splint and she will be confined to a wheelchair for three or four weeks but plans to attend classes when possible.

Wheat Plot Seeded At Rush County Demonstration Site
The Rush County Wheat Variety and Fertilizer Demonstration Plot was seeded on the George Bird farm in Center Township near Mays. Nine varieties including Monon Knox 62 Reed Redcoat Lewis Stadler Purdue Experimental 5120 Fulton and Ottawa are planted on a plot with four fertilizer areas and one unfertilized area. The Rush County Farm Bureau donated the fertilizer. Three fertilizer zones will receive extra nitrogen next spring. A field meeting will be held next summer to compare varieties. The project is led by the Rush County Better Crops Association with Purdue University and the County Extension Office.

Robert E. White of Ripley Township was elected as a director of the Indiana State Fair Board at a district meeting held in Connersville. He succeeds Chester H. About ninety people gathered Monday at the Community Center as the Ripley Farm Bureau hosted 4H youths with a Wiener supper. Mike Lafuse, Charles Campbell, and Penina Shields led demonstrations. Bayard Baker spoke on The Greatest Mystery Story In The World. Pins were awarded by Mr. Dabel of Rushville with helpers Wright and Odessa. Kenneth Land presided over the meeting. The annual Farm Bureau meeting is set for October 28 at the Co op building in Rushville. Nomination committee members were Donald Staten Jr, Bernard Dalrymple, Howard Harris, and John Schmidt.

Cora Kemp er from Carthage R1 2 Carthage is chosen as a sophomore in Franklin College Concert Choir singing second alto. This marks her second year in the choir which performs Handel's Messiah at Christmas and major oratorios during the year. Indianapolis hardware store owner dies from carbon monoxide
Kenneth C. Pitts owner of the 52nd and College Hardware Store in Indianapolis died from carbon monoxide poisoning. He was found in his car in the family garage at 4714 Winthrop. He was 57 and a native of Williamsport. Survivors include his wife M Virginia and two daughters. He was a member of Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church and Hagerstown Masonic Lodge. A service was held at Flanner Buchanan Board Ripple Mortuary.
