Mrs Beulah Whitfield of Ft Myers formerly of Carthage fell near her home last week and broke a bone in her left foot. She is convalescing with her leg in a cast at 2263 Altamont Ave.

McColleys’ Daughters Visit Delingers as Funeral Is Held

Delynn and Dara Sue McColley of Franklin stayed with Mr and Mrs Clara Delinger of the area from Wednesday to Friday. John Barnes of R1 Spiceland, father of Mrs McColley, was killed in an auto wreck. The funeral occurred Friday at Macer Funeral Home in New Castle, with Mr McColley attending Thursday evening.

Hunts Return From Eight Day Virginia North Carolina Trip

Mr and Mrs Hubert Hunt of Carthage completed an eight day vacation visiting Kitty Hawk and Cape Hatteras in North Carolina. They traveled back via the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Smoky Mountains and spent an evening with Mrs Inez Binford and her niece Miss Lois Rabey in Holland Virginia.

Flora Hunt Returns Home After Illness Visit

Mrs Flora Hunt of R 1 Carthage returned home Wednesday afternoon after a short illness visit with Mr and Mrs Perry Smith in Vincennes. Mr and Mrs Donald Ruby accompanied her and Mrs Ruby had been with her mother during the illness.

Elected Treasurer at State Convention

Mr. Larry Fenner was elected Treasurer of the Indiana American Medical Technologists at their state convention held last weekend at the Marott Hotel in Indianapolis. Mr. Fenner and his bride live in Indianapolis and he is employed at Mershon Medical Labs with parents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fenner of Carthage Route 1.

Carthage Hosts 10th Indiana District Christian Churches Meet

The 10th Indiana District convention of the Christian Churches will meet Sunday in Carthage at East Street Christian Church registration begins at 2:00 p.m. Key speakers include Keith B. Hall and Wayne A. Greene. The gathering covers missions in India West Utkal Balangir and Diptipur with joint work by Disciples and British Baptists. The convention theme is The Living Book with From Intention to Achievement through Commitment. 4 H Club Guests at Ripley Meeting and Supper

The Farm Bureau Club hosted the 4 H Boys and Girls of Ripley Two for a supper meeting at the Community Center basement with seventy guests. Kenneth Land presided as chairman. An Rushville Assistant County Agent helped present pins to 4 H members. A Carthage barber shop quartet sang numbers with Mrs. Kenneth Land directing. A representative from the R E M C Customers Relations Dept showed a film titled Indiana to close the program.

Bevan Conaway Dies in Carthage at 77

Bevan I Conaway 77 of Carthage died at Rush Memorial Hospital at 8 10 PM Tuesday after ten years of declining health and a six week serious period. He was born June 14 1888 one mile south of Carthage on River Road, son of George and Anna Gates Conaway. He lived in Carthage his life as a farmer and retired recently. He married Lottie Narvell on April 3 1912. He was a member of Arlington Christian Church. Survivors include his widow son Glenn Carthage and brother Delmar Carthage plus several nieces and nephews. A daughter Edith died in infancy and sister Mrs Jasper Kennedy preceded him. Funeral 10 AM Friday at Hampton Mortuary Carthage Rev Frank Guyatt officiating. Burial Arlington East Hill Cemetery.

Carthage Lions Complete Walnut Collection 1965

The Carthage Lions Club shipped 1 050 bushels of walnuts to four states Illinois Kentucky Wisconsin and West Virginia as part of its 1965 collection. The project supports lumber companies in reforestation with help from Carthage High School Junior Class Girls 4H Cub Scouts and local landowners. Committee members were Guy Ewing Leonard Jackson and Thomas Shields.
