Miss Ruth Blessinger was killed in a car accident about 1:00 a.m. Thursday while returning from work at the Delco-Remy plant in Anderson. The body was to be returned to Carthage for burial. She lived in the Carthage community and was making her home with Benton Blessinger at the time.

The Rush County Historical Society held its fall meeting and the Rush County Historical Museum celebrated its fifth birthday at the museum in Rushville on Sunday. Dr. Howard H. Peckham of the Indiana Historical Bureau was guest speaker. The museum plans 1:00 to 5:00 openings each afternoon from October 14 to 21.

Death of Cyrus Rhoades at daughter’s home near Jonesboro
Cyrus Rhoades, 90, died last Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. Alton Henley near Jonesboro. Longtime Carthage businessman, he ran a livery stable and later a restaurant. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 15 PM at Mrs. Henley’s home with Riverside cemetery burial.

In Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur McCorkle and their two sons were in a two car collision just east of Greenfield after a woman driver pulled in front of their car. McCorkle swerved to avoid a crash and struck a car coming west from Indianapolis. All occupants escaped with minor bruises.

About 15 000 American sailors and soldiers landed to occupy Keijo 23 miles away. A crowd of around 100 000 watched the flag ceremony. Thousands of POWs were identified and headed home.

Mrs Katherine Kennedy Taken Ill and Undergoes Surgery
Mrs Katherine Kennedy was taken suddenly ill on Tuesday and on Friday was removed to Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. In the Thompson ambulance she underwent surgery Saturday at 10 o'clock. She is reported to be getting along nicely.
