The Community Center Theater announces a two night schedule resuming Sunday and Saturday shows. Show manager Floyd Stevens notes performances start at 7 oclock with standard time resumed.
The Parent-Teachers Association sponsors its Second Annual Hallowe en party for all area children on Friday October 31 at 6 30 p m at the Community Center. Children are urged to mask and join the town parade and a show will be held at the theater with refreshments on the second floor for all attendees.
Private Norman McCorkle ends 26 days at home with his wife Mrs. McCorkle and his parents Mr and Mrs Wilbur McCorkle then departs for Camp Kilmer New Jersey en route overseas He has been at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri Mrs McCorkle plans to return to Rushville for employment.
All Rush County schools including Carthage will dismiss Friday for the State Cornpicking Contest at Rushville. Local students will travel to compete in the event with school day adjustments noted by officials.
Rushville hosted a sendoff for ten draftees headed to Indianapolis for the October draft. Four Carthage residents joined the group: Stanford Lynch Bill Miller Leroy Earlywine and Paul Day.
Rush Lodge No 580 conferred the Entered Apprentice degree on Richard Henley last Thursday night at the local lodge hall.
Mr and Mrs Unn Fitch bought the James Mosier property on North Walnut Street. Their South East Street property sold to Homer Richmond. Lloyd Manuel owner of Manuels Market bought the Donald Mann property at Market and Mill Streets. Mr and Mrs Mann and family plan to leave Indiana.
Verne Plummer escaped with slight injuries after a heavy tree limb struck him while he operated a bulldozer to clear trees at the Harlan Lee farm last Friday morning. He was knocked unconscious briefly, received medical aid, and was later discharged to his home. He was up and outside this week.
Rep Ralph Harvey the Tenth District Republican congressman seeks re election will be principal speaker at a rally October 29 at the Community Center. The program includes entertainment and plans will be announced later. He spends the day in Rush County covering the north and ends with a 730 p m rally in Carthage.
Rush County chairman announced several township chairmen for the Young Republican group. Washington is Joe Archer, Walker Willard Gulley, Ripley Kenneth Rhodes, Richland Bert George, Posey Earl Cleven ger, Orange John Curran, Noble Harold Norris, Anderson Jim Bob Anderson.
The Carthage Camera Club held a guest night at the Community Center with a pitch-in supper. About 65 attendees enjoyed a program featuring Lee Silver showing Northwest photographs from his last summer trip.
McCordsville hosts Mr and Mrs Frank Brokaw visiting Mrs Brokaws brother Harry Bentley. Greenfield delegates Rex Ellis Miss Virginia Lefferley attended motor boat rates at Madison Indiana Sunday. Indianapolis couple Mr and Mrs Charles Pierce visited Roy Robertson and family for weekend gathering.
The 1952-53 basketball season looms with Ora Clayton’s schedule and a November 1 gym dedication. Commissioner L B Phillips and A assistant Robert Hinshaw may attend as New Salem, last year’s sectional champs, visit for the opener. Season tickets go on sale October 21 with reserved seating and a special section B in the west gym.
The American Legion posts a film titled America Sails The Seas showing next Wednesday night at the Legion Home. Wayne Osborn urges Legionnaires to attend. An Avitch-in Supper and Card Party for Legionnaires and Auxiliary members is planned for Saturday October 25 at 6 pm at the Legion Hall.
Mr and Mrs Harry Leisure hosted guests near New Salem with their family in attendance. Curtis and Richard Geise and their daughter joined Leisure in the evening. Vincent Kelly of Bridgeport dined with Paul Moore and family. Maude Bell visited Lola Miles Oma Smith Raleigh then Edd Jackson Rushville. Gouldie Kyser spent weekend with Hattie Innis and Sharlee Kyser in Milroy. Rev Arie V Faris and John Miner were in Martinsville on Friday.
At a regular meeting the Carthage Lions Club approved funding for a November 18 show at the Community Center featuring Van's Dance Revue. Guest Clyde Ruby and others heard a talk by Howard Patrem, director of Indiana's State Industrial School for the Blind, who described 6000 Indiana blind residents and employment gains.
Mrs Nellie Barrett's car was struck by a passing motorist Mrs Law rence Jackman of Milroy on West Third street Wednesday. Damages were estimated at 150 dollars to Barrett's car and 100 dollars to Jackman's. Mrs Jackman was ordered to appear in Justice of Peace court there after police investigation.
Tall Cedars of Lebanon Grove 58 in Carthage plans a November 8 banquet and initiation for about 1,100 visiting members and guests. Donald Fancher serves as secretary treasurer, Ertle Price as president, and Thomas Bush as vice president. The event uses the Community Center and new gym with activities starting at 1 p.m. and a parade of candidates at 6:30 p.m. followed by initiation at 8:00 p.m.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred B. Sims in Weston Village Greenfield will host an open house this weekend from 2 to 5 p m sponsored by a furniture company. Local Woman Installed At District Meeting Mrs Bertha Beck and Mrs Gladys Butler attended the tenth district Auxiliary meeting at the Greensburg Legion home Tuesday.

Mr and Mrs Walter Mann and grandson Charles Donald Mann and son Dicky attended a Sunday dinner at Mr and Mrs Albert Andis home in Shelbyville with 35 people present. The event honored their daughter Lt Marilyn Andis of the Air Corp serving in Texas. Mr and Mrs R M Allen Richmond were business visitors in Carthage Tuesday. Howard A Newsom of Chicago spent a few days last week with Mr and Mrs B L Newsom.
Commander Wayne Osborne of Bertram Howard Post 316 launches a community campaign to enroll every eligible veteran in the American Legion for 1953. From October 22 through November, efforts target World War I and II veterans and those who served after June 25, 1950. The four programs rehabilitation child welfare national security and Americanism guide the drive.
Mary A. Dyer 85 widow of Alfred Dyer died at her Carthage area home after a three week illness. Born Shelby County January 28 1867 she was the daughter of Thomas E. and Lucy Ann McConnell. Survived by daughter Goldie Addison two grandchildren Mary Ruth Bennett and Hoyt Addison and sister Mrs Lewis Nigh. Funeral at Thompson Funeral Home Tuesday 2 pm with Rev Lois Simmerman and Rev Zona White. burial Walnut Ridge cemetery west of Carthage.
Mr and Mrs Lewis Lafuse Route 2 Carthage announce a daughter born Saturday morning at Rush Memorial Hospital. Mr and Mrs Harold Ball Carthage welcome a son born Thursday morning. Mr and Mrs Willie Finch Carthage reveal a daughter born Saturday October 11 at Rush Memorial Hospital.
Rush Memorial Hospital reports seven newborns added to the population over the past weekend, bringing the total born since October 1 to 25.
The Carthage P T A met October 14 at the Community Center with Rev. Everett Chapman speaking on Religious Books. They plan Halloween events for October 31 and a supper November 1 for the new gym dedication, and seek volunteers for the October landscaping days.

Rush County reports five corn picker accidents this week. Injuries include loss of fingers and a crushed hand, with victims from Arlington Rushville Rushville areas. Each man received hospital treatment at Rush Memorial or Rush Hospital.

Plans are underway for a Military Ball on Tuesday evening November 11 from 9 to 12 at Knightstown High School gymnasium. The event aims to honor service members with a formal gathering and salute.
Rushville hosts the 2nd Indiana Mechanical Corn Picking Contest on the Arthur Wilson farm with more than 2,000 dollars in prizes.
