Carthage Man Killed in Wreck on U S 40
Cornelius N. Howard a 45 year old resident north of Carthage died Thursday night at Henry county hospital after injuries from an automobile accident on U S 40 east of Dunreath. Elvis Marcum 21 and Lester Morris 21 of Richmond were injured. Funeral services for Howard were held Sunday afternoon with burial in Knightstown cemetery. Survivors include widow and eight children.

Duck hunting season opens October 16 in Indiana

Ed N. Hill and sisters Miss Bertha L. Hill and Miss Ruth Wilson were traveling from Blaine Washington toward Pasadena California when a rear tire blowout caused an accident. Miss Hill suffered a broken collar bone and broken ribs while Miss Wilson had a back injury and Mr Hill chest injuries. They were taken to a Redmond Oregon hospital near the crash site and Walter B. Hill of Knightstown reports they are doing as well as can be expected.

DeMoss Family Returns to Alaska After Carthage Visit
Lowell DeMoss and his wife and two children depart for Alaska after spending part of the summer with Mr. and Mrs. William De Moss and daughter Mabel in Muncie. DeMoss served as supervisor of Indian affairs at Karluk Kodiak Island and taught in Indian schools at Cordova and Metlakatla.
