The revival begins October 5 and continues to October 16 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Speaker is Rev. John Lucas of Edinburg and song evangelists Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hillan with family of Tipton, Indiana, provide special music nightly.
Nine members of the Carthage Garden Club attended a Southeast District Garden Club luncheon Tuesday at Kenstin Manor in Helmsburg Brown County Indiana. Attendees included Mrs. Forrest Beck Mrs. Wilbur McCorkle Mrs. Stella Humes Mrs. Lloyd Manuel Mrs. Albert Ray Mrs. Loyal Hunt Mrs. Helen Magruder Mrs. Ross Tweedy and Mrs. Thomas Bash.
Ronald Dean Myers of Frankfort Michigan resumed studies at Michigan State University. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Lincoln Myers of Carthage R A and the Myers family resides in Frankfort Michigan with two siblings.
Mrs. Lillian Righter Coleman of Knightstown entertained last Tuesday September 27 at her home for the annual meeting of former girlhood friends. Attendees included Lillian White Lottie Kizer Ethel White and Hazel Coffin. Absent were Rema Allen Ada Leonard. Refreshments were served.
Mr and Mrs Howard McCorkle of Gahan and Mr and Mrs Richard Pratt of Sexton hosted a dinner for their 35th wedding anniversaries Friday night September 30 at the McCorkle home. Guests included Mr and Mrs James Pratt of Rushville R R and Mr and Mrs Del Monte Wagner of Arlington. Cake sherbet and coffee were served.
Mr and Mrs Jack Fagel of Carthage and their daughter with Mr and Mrs Robert Walters of Kennard returned Tuesday from a ten day Florida vacation. En route they visited the Smoky Mountains Christus Garden Gatlinburg Tennessee St Augustine Marineland Cape Kennedy Jungle Gardens Sarasota Busch Gardens Singing Tower Cypress Gardens and Silver Springs.
Ralph Truitt's car crashed through a fence on Jesse Stout farm south of Carthage along Arlington Pike Wednesday after a right front tire blew out. Damage to the car was estimated at $600.
The Community Center Board of Directors and officers gather for their regular meeting Tuesday night to discuss ongoing operations and upcoming events.
Mr and Mrs William Harold Dixon of Carthage Mr and Mrs Kenneth Earnest of Rushville and Mr and Mrs Stanley Williams of Arlington attended the Region 5 District Meeting of the Indiana Bankers Association dinner Tuesday night at the Elks Club Speakers included Mr Harry McClain Executive Secretary of Independent Insurance and Mr Robert M Schram President of the Indiana Bankers Association.
Mr and Mrs Richard Craig of Indianapolis were Saturday evening visitors of Bet Mr and Mrs Leonard Sr.
U S Senator Birch Bayh will headline the Rush County Jefferson Jackson Day Dinner at the Durbin Hotel on Saturday October 8 sponsored by the county Democratic organization Tickets are available at the Rushville License Branch Cart License Branch and Democratic Headquarters 118 West Second Street Rushville. Family Dinner Honors 50th Anniversary at John Whitfield home features dinner noon reception and guests including grandchildren great grandchildren and many Carthage Greenwood and Rushville relatives. Band Boosters Plan Projects include candy drive November support for County Music Festival smorgasbord band uniforms and Senior Awards dinner arrangements.
A free ham and bean supper is planned for Friday night October 21 at the Community Center in Carthage. Rep. Richard Roudebush will be the principal speaker with a 8 o’clock talk. Ray Richardson of Greenfield, GOP candidate for joint state representative, will speak briefly. Local chairman Ercel Bever will release further details.
Carthage Lions Club hosts Rushville Lions at the Community Center Monday evening for a program on International Farm Youth Exchange. Sweden visitor Rolf Ericksson, 21, staying with Francis Koch in Rushville, will present. He arrived in Indiana in August and will attend Purdue University for several weeks before returning home. All local Lions are urged to attend.
Mrs. Eugene I. Gardner president and Mrs. Kenneth Rhodes secretary led Carthage American Legion Auxiliary representatives at the President and Secretary's Conference in Indianapolis. Registrations and meetings took place at the War Memorial building with a noon luncheon at the Continental Hotel.
Sgt and Mrs Dwaine Edington and family move to Ft Carson Colorado Springs area after a visit with Mr and Mrs Roscoe Davis. Prior to departure the Davises hosted a pitch in dinner for the relatives.
Mr and Mrs Randy McClurg and their sons from Muncie were weekend guests of Mr and Mrs Markes aes and Mrs ee anson eigh who hosted them for Saturday evening supper.
State Representative John A. Ruby addressed Greenfield Rotary on his re election bid for the Indiana General Assembly representing Hancock and Rush counties. He highlighted 94th General Assembly achievements and outlined future economic development measures including a $2,000,000 revolving fund, industrial loan guarantees, local economic development commissions with bonding power, and a deep water port on Lake Michigan. He urged support for education and mental health initiatives in the next session.
The 21st Carthage Fall Festival closed with strong turnout and high spirits. Funds raised for the Community Center totaled about $475 with events like the smorgasbord and talent show contributing substantial sums and many donations still arriving for final accounting. The parade featured 37 units and a crowd-pleasing program, while prizes were awarded in multiple divisions and bands showcased in a marching contest.
Fletcher Methodist Church schedules Rally Day and Homecoming on October 16 with a Sunday School program led by Dr. Lee Jarrett. A pitch-in dinner follows the hour, served in the new addition by the Women’s Society of Christian Service.
Miss Mable Metze of the United Christian Missionary Society Indianapolis spoke Sunday at East St. Christian Church during worship hour. She guides and assists congregations planning missionary work locally.
About 75 bands from Carthage New Salem Rushville and other high schools join IU marching Hundred for a mass band performance before the 1 30 p m kickoff of Indiana versus Minnesota in Bloomington. Works include E Pluribus Unum Indiana March and Hosts of Freedom conducted by Ronald D Gregory.
