The term proa covers many vessel types from sam pan to ka pal, but in Western usage it denotes swift craft with a rounded weather side and flat beam from stem to stern. Greedy boa constrictor dies in Balboa cage
A six foot boa constrictor at Balboa Gun Club entered a bird cage and devoured numerous game birds. The reptile became trapped in the same entry hole it used to enter and was later killed by club members who found it still imprisoned and bird stuffed.

Burrowing Sheldrake Nests Exploited for Eggs
The sheldrake, an Old World salt water duck, nests in deep sand dune holes often with multiple chambers and a sod lid. Eggs over six are stolen, along with eiderdown from underground nests, by human plunderers. The bird resembles a mallard in size and has brilliant plumage.

Dr John F Hill 55 formerly of Carthage died at his Greenfield home Tuesday morning after a year long gallstone illness. Born April 20 1878 he was survived by wife Elizabeth Fedora two sons John Earl and Forrest two brothers O E Hill and W A Hill a sister Mrs Mary E Minor and another sister. A Spanish American War veteran he belonged to the Masonic lodge and Friends church. Funeral at his Greenfield home Thursday at 10 00 with burial in Greenfield cemetery.
