Several homes in Greenfield were entered or an attempted entrance made Monday night. The burglars used a small wrecking bar and entered through windows. Earnest reunion held Sunday near Carthage
The Earnest reunion gathered at the country home of Frank Earnest three miles southeast of Carthage. A noon pitch-in dinner featured lawn seating and dahlia centerpieces. Attendees included extended Earnest relatives from Cambridge City Charlottesville Eden Greenfield Knightstown Mays Manilla Morristown Arlington and Gipsonville among others. Frank Earnest is the sole survivor of seven brothers born at the homestead he cleared after arriving from Tennessee in 1832.

Man Falls From Truck Injures Hip Near Carthage
Mr. Frank Earnest of south of Carthage fell from a truck at the Knightstown elevator on Wednesday afternoon and sustained a serious hip injury. He was rushed to the Catholic hospital in Indianapolis for treatment. His daughter Mrs. Floyd Collins reported no encouraging news late Thursday about his condition.

Funeral services for Roscoe D. Hiatt age 72 were held at the Friends church in New Castle with Rev. Aaron Napier and Rev. Robert E. Cope officiating. Burial followed in Greensboro. Hiatt formerly of New Castle died Friday at 12 05 AM at the home of Mrs A J Carr after about five weeks of illness. Nature guide program continues at Turkey Run Park
The nature guide service at Turkey Run state park continues through September and October. Virgil M. Simmons, commissioner of the Department of Conservation, announced the continuation as other parks end summer trips. More than twenty thousand people joined bird and plant life hikes across Brown County and nearby parks, more than double last year’s attendance. Groups can request guides by filing with the Department of Conservation at least two weeks prior to the trip.
