Mount Lawn Pavilion Destroyed by Fire
A large dance pavilion at Mount Lawn Springs north of Knightstown burned Saturday night. Owned by Dr George Sweigart the loss was estimated between 5000 and 10000 dollars. About 300 dancers evacuated as the orchestra leader halted music and led guests to safety. Adjoining cabins were undamaged and it was unclear if the pavilion would be rebuilt.

Coal Car Derailment Blocks Freight Train Rails
A coal laden freight train derailed early Friday after a wheel flange broke. The car jumped the rails near the elevator and bumped along ties before reaching the Blue River bridge guard rails, preventing a worse wreck. The wrecker removed the damaged car and traffic resumed Friday afternoon.
