Community Club Board Appoints Committees at Meeting

The Men's Community Club met Tuesday evening in the auditorium basement with good attendance. A committee to place slogans at roads leading into town was appointed. Reports listed members for Program Publicity Public affairs House Social Service Music and Golden Rule committees.

Mr and Mrs Clarkson Swain and Miss Mary Swain of Greensro visited Sun day with Mr and Mrs Will Fay Burkher family in Fountaintown. New Management at Carthage Hotel Relocated to Luther GIBson Property

Mr and Mrs G W Richardson who ran the Carthage Hotel since March 17 move operations to the Luther Gibson property on South Walnut Street. William Richardson, the brothers, takes over hotel management. The hotel is owned by Everette McFarlan of Dunreith.

Engagement of Miss Mary McClintic and Walter Dyer

The engagement was announced Sunday at a family dinner at the home of Miss McClintic's grandparents, S. W. Youngs, in Morristown. She has been staying at the home of Allen W. Newsom with Walter Dyer, son of Mr and Mrs John Dyer.

Postmaster Appoints Carthage Postmaster Miss Coffin

Postmaster Representative Richard N. Elliott of Connersville appoints Miss Pearle Coffin as Carthage postmaster. Coffin has served as assistant postmaster since January 17 and was a clerk a few weeks prior.

Market Friendly Circle Market at Winefield Grocery

Friendly Circle will hold a Saturday market at 1 p m at Winesfield Grocery for the benefit of the School Milk Fund. Local residents are invited to attend and shop for charitable support. Proceeds go to the School Milk Fund to aid student nutrition.

Ripley club gathering and local notices

Ripley Country Club will meet Thursday with Mrs Luther Gibson. Eugene Stevens, age fifteen months, returned home from Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. The Friendship Class gave a surprise party for Mrs P J Sattler with twenty guests and a linen lunch cloth as a gift. A public fountain was restored for service by Indiana Electric Corp. Friday. The week featured warm days followed by rain and snow flurries. Rev Frank C Guyatt of the Friends Church fell ill from appendicitis and was operated on at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital. condition reported satisfactory. WANTED Family to keep house. J H McCarty.

New Planing Mill Debuts At Tweedy Yard

The Tweedy lumber yards introduce a 60 by 32 foot planing mill department now partially operating for yard and outside work. Two compact motorized machines replace older bulky equipment, including a wood worker unit for planing and joinery and a swinging cut-off saw. The building features fifteen windows, concrete floor, western and southern entrances, and will later add electric lighting.
