Postmaster Bill Alexander attended the Tenth District National Association of Postmasters' dinner meeting in Hagerstown on Wednesday. He serves as president of the organization.
Mrs Myrtle Hileman and daughters Becky and Elaine from Indianapolis moved to the Gatewood Apartment Home. Mr and Mrs Bill Gatewood and Mike moved to the apartment vacated by Mr and Mrs Richard Trubey and daughters downstairs.
Steve Ellis son of Mr and Mrs James Ellis of Carthage left Indianapolis Monday evening by plane for San Antonio Texas where he will train for the Air Force. He enlisted for four years service duty.
The Carthage American Legion schedules its November meeting for next Wednesday at 7 30 p.m. The session will be held at the Community Center.
Airman 1st Class Ron ald Magee and his wife with son from Kincheloe AFB Michigan visit his parents Mr and Mrs Wm Fred Magee and family here arriving Tuesday. After a 30 day furlough Magee will depart for Florida for schooling.
Mrs. Clara Delinger returns to Carthage from Homer after convalescing for a broken hip. Lawrence Price released from Irene Byron Hospital near Fort Wayne to his Rushville home. Alva Porter shows in Robert Long Hospital. Riley Hospital tests for Picey Boulton, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Paul Boulton of Carthage. Mrs. Ralph Truitt admitted to Rush Memorial Hospital.
The Carthage Raiders beat Laurel 61 to 48 in the season opener. Rucker led Carthage with 18 points while Feeback paced Laurel with 21. Raiders used all ten men as they opened a ragged but comfortable margin, with low shooting efficiency around .279 for Carthage and .286 for Laurel. Next game is at Straughn on Tuesday Nov 15. Southwestern game rescheduled for Nov 29.

Qtr margins were 11-5, 14-6, 18-16 with Laurels’ Cochran fouling out in the final period. scoring featured Hampton 12 and Kline 10 for Carthage and Reeves 3, Poland 4, Warner 3 for Laurel.

Mrs Loyal Hunt of Carthage led a Christmas workshop Tuesday at the East Tenth Street Methodist Church in Indianapolis detailing crafts and holiday activities for attendees.
Vinton A Crow Hudson 67 a retired Rush County highway department worker died suddenly of a heart attack at his home near Carthage Indiana. He had a 30 year career with the department and ran a small farm. survived by widow Ellen Walker and two sisters. Funeral held at Hampton Mortuary with burial in Greenfield Park Cemetery.
Mr and Mrs Paul Aker visited their son 3C Cliff Aker stationed at a nearby Air Force Base near Wurtsmith Michigan last week.
MUNCIE Ind Four Rush County valedictorians begin Ball State University autumn quarter 1966 as freshmen. Arlene Kaye Ruby of Carthage James Newkirk Glenwood Earlene Gahimer Manilla and Janet Louise McMillin Rushville earned top high school honors before enrolling at Ball State.
Mr. and Mrs. Lindley Taylor and Mrs. Stella Humes attended the wedding of Robert Martz Jr. Saturday at 2 30 p.m. in the Baptist Church at Indiana polis.
Beth Ann and Jane are identified as residents associated with Green Field in the brief note.
Homer Hensler age 83 died Tuesday at Lafayette hospital after an extended illness. Immediate survivors include widow Frank a son Dr H L Hensler of Carthage a daughter Mrs Merle Rush of Lafayette and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a m at the Lairderal Home in Amboy Indiana.
Mrs. Wanita Ball of Nappanee in The Indiana Teacher criticizes study halls as parking lots for unoccupied students. She proposes two fixes: extend class time by ten minutes with supervised study, or split pupils into smaller targeted groups with extra teacher effort.
Mrs. Robert Walker hosted a birthday dinner with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Weber of Carthage R2, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Wright of Rushville, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ruby of Fullerton. The group returned to the Walkers' home for a social evening as Mrs. Weber presented a birthday cake.
Purdue University resident Bob Winslow spent a weekend with family. Mrs Ione Winslow and Mrs Garnett Winchester Sr of near Columbus Indiana were Sunday visitors to their daughter Wright and her children.
John A Ruby, incumbent in the General Assembly, suffers losses in Rush and Hancock counties as Richardson defeats Ruby 4,199 to 3,355 and 5,922 to 4,915. Roudebush wins the 10th District seat over Staton by 93,920 to 54,543.
Loran Spence and his brother Larry were in a one car crash on Charlottes ville Road with Larry seriously injured and listed in poor condition at Riley Hospital Indianapolis. Other crashes include a 4 15 a m collision near Carthage injuring Ann Hawkins and Kenneth Schaeffer and two more New Castle area incidents with several vehicles damaged and drivers named.
Members of the Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority will be entertained at the home of Mrs Gail Barry Tuesday evening November 15 with Mrs Robert White as co host.
Mr and Mrs Forrest Beck entertained Sunday with a family dinner. Guests included Mr and Mrs Riley Sharp of Elwood Indiana polis residents Mr and Mrs Julius Ehlert and son from Indianapolis Mr and Mrs Melvin Beck and family of New Castle and Mr and Mrs John Beck and daughter of Columbus Ohio who were also overnight guests Saturday.

Rush county Indiana reports entries received for the 1966 International Live Stock Exposition to be held November 25 to December 3 at the Chicago Amphitheatre. Rebecca Norvell of Manilla has entered Hampshire lambs in the Junior Live Stock Feeding Contest where 4H and FFA members from many states will show steers lambs and hogs raised as club projects. The Chicago show marks its 67th anniversary as the nation s largest stock show at the 13 acre International Amphitheatre at the Chicago Stock Yards.
