Jacob Ruby Dies at Home After Illness of Months
Rush county resident Jacob Ruby died Wednesday morning at his Carthage area home after a battle with stomach cancer. Born December 21, 1829, he and Elizabeth Newsom later moved to Ripley township and raised five children. Survived by four of six from his second marriage and several grandchildren, he was a Democrat active in farming. Funeral at Edgar Ruby’s home with Rev. C N Willson officiating. burial Barrett cemetery.

Alonzo Sohn's 1911 operations yield a 25 000 pound pear crop with 503 bushels of Kiefers sold to Mr. Beaver of Rushville at 35 cents per hundred. Deficiency filled by Thomas T. Newby Milton Henley and William Hall. Bulk shipment due to barrel scarcity. Assault at Raleigh masque supper leads to fines
Eugene Stanley of Henry County was fined 27.35 dollars on two charges for assault and battery and for disturbing the meeting after he assaulted Rev. Carl Berry at a masque supper in Raleigh. Berry suffered a broken nose and Berry’s supporters say the attack was unwarranted.

Mrs M B Jessup suffered severe burns on her shoulders and back after her husband, mistaking carbolic acid for iodine, poured it on her bare shoulder. The acid spread to her back and affected her heart and head. She received prompt medical care and is recovering quickly.
