John H. Morris 81, a Greenfield resident and Columbia Hotel owner, was fatally injured Friday evening when struck by a car driven by Clarence Hewson in Indianapolis. He died at 8 30 a m after being treated for a broken leg and internal injuries at Methodist hospital. He is survived by his wife and children, with several grandchildren and priorinvolvements in local business and the Columbia Hotel.

Small Fire Causes Minor Loss at Rushville Factory
A fire in the moss picking room of the International Furniture factory at Rushville caused a small loss Friday morning around ten. Firemen confined the blaze to that room and the rest of the factory was spared. Workers used chemical tanks to help extinguish the fire. damaged material was used in treating upholstery against moths.

Funeral services were held at Center Christian church for Eva Jane Foust Bitner 66 lifelong Rush county resident wife of Walter Bitner. She was born March 12 1873 in Ripley township to Carl and Mary Jane Foust and married Walter Bitner October 12 1898. Surviving are her husband and sister Mrs Villora Buscher of Carthage.

Mrs Mae Miner Siler, 60, died at 8 15 am after a brief illness following a heart attack on October 22 and a Tuesday stroke. Born June 18 1879 in Arlington Indiana she lived in Carthage most of her life. Survived by two sons Ralph of Carthage and Raymond of Richmond two sisters Lula Augustine near Mays and Elizabeth Troyer of Anderson. Funeral arrangements pending.

Indianapolis November 1 Carthage public school accepted an invitation for 25 seniors to attend the Butler university bowl game Saturday as Butler hosts Wabash in a storied rivalry. Liberty Ind Oct 27 Lawrence Pitzer of Fountain county won his fifth Indiana corn husking title by shucking 4.56 bushels per hour in 1 hour 20 minutes. Floyd Gesse Porter county took second with 33.47 bushels and Harold Bruns Franklin county placed third with 32 bushels as rain turned the field to mud.
