Iris Jordan Unhurt in Wreck Near Carthage

Mrs John Jordan escaped injury Tuesday night when her car slid off the road west of Carthage returning from the home of Mrs Harold Moore. Damages to the Jordan car were about 250 dollars. Trooper Jim Kleiman investigated. Birth announced for Michael Kennedy Gorman born October 13 1962 to Richard and Rose Marie Gorman of Flemingsburg Kentucky former Carthage resident.

Mr and Mrs Tilney Smith and their daughter Kathy traveled from Wednesday to Saturday visiting Glen Smith at Perrin AFB in Sherman Texas then Amarillo AFB with Jon Smith. They noted daytime highs near 75 degrees and night lows around 50.

Moore family returns from vacation to Carthage

Mr and Mrs Forrest Moore returned to Carthage last Thursday from a two week vacation. They spent a week with their son Major F N Moore Mrs Moore and their two grandchildren in Midwest City Oklahoma. Major Moore was on leave in the United States from Saudi Arabia. They traveled back via the Ozark Mountains.

Health studios to open in New Castle building

A National Health Studio for men and a Silhouette Figure-Form Studio for women will open soon in the old Courier-Times Building at 218 S. 14th St. New Castle. Managed by Mr and Mrs J H MacPherson, they offer personalized body building and reducing programs with help from trained physical therapists. Facilities include steam and sun rooms and full gym equipment with assistance from Mr and Mrs John Wood of Carthage.

Services Held For Lucy Butler

Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. for Mrs Lucy Smith Butler 82 at Hampton Funeral Home. She died at her Carthage home after five years of declining health. Born January 3 1880 in Ellet County Kentucky she was daughter of Hade and Nancy Smith. Survived by one daughter Daisy McClurg seven sons and many grandchildren. Burial in Carthage Town Cemetery conducted by Rev Cleo Cox.

Mrs. Margaret Jones and Shirley Jones of Bellevue Kentucky visited Mrs. James McGeorge Sunday afternoon.
