Faughn Addison 47, son of William Charles and Clarabel Addison, died at Robert Long hospital in Indianapolis after a ten week illness from flu pneumonia. A farmer, he lived northwest of Charlottesville, born 1886 in Hancock county. He married Goldie Byer in 1909. two children Hoyt and Mary Ruth survive with widow, mother, four sisters, and six brothers. Funeral Tuesday at Friends Church in Charlottesville officiated by Rev. George Bird. interment Walnut Ridge cemetery. D P Dunn in charge.
Mrs Goldie Addison and children thank friends for kindness at the time of their recent bereavement.
Mr and Mrs J A Lineback were in Indianapolis on Tuesday as visitors, sharing time with local residents and touring the city.
Nearly 800 boys and girls from Rushville, Webb, Carthage and area schools joined a parade and activities marking Rush County Attendance Day. Perfect attendance pupils watched a Princess theatre showing of When a Feller i Needs a Friend, with morning and afternoon groups, followed by a Memorial Park picnic and school band participants from Rushville Milroy Gings and Carthage.
Henry Jessup witnessed crows attacking a young squirrel and delivered it to the McNabb family. After care, the creature was released last Monday and climbed a maple tree, dining in state and refusing to descend as onlookers wait to see its fate.
Nearly 200 people attend a prohibition meeting at the auditorium with Franklin George of New Castle as speaker. Rev. Pickett presides, assisted by Rev. Crawley, as local churches cancel services. Howard Ewbank of the Bush County anti repeal group says more dry meetings will occur before the June 6 special election.
Mrs Elizabeth J Hill and Mrs Verna Hill visited Mrs Lydia Stevens in Muncie for Friday dinner. Mrs Elizabeth J Hill remained for an indefinite visit with her niece.
The Carthage Merchants defeated Newcastle 10 to 2 at the local diamond last Sunday. Gardiner fanned eight and walked none, Heim homered triple and a double in four at bats, and Carthage erupted for four runs in the fourth and five in the seventh. Newcastle was shut out until the eighth inning, game called after eight due to players leaving for work. Carthage faces New Palestine next Sunday after beating them 12 to 11 in ten innings earlier this season.
At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sims a pitch in dinner was given Monday night for Fred Sims birthday anniversary. Guests included Will R. Zion of Knightstown and many local friends in a social afterglow.
The Post Office opens for morning mail distribution on Tuesday May 30 and closes at 9:00 p.m. Stores including Winfield's Phelps' and Elliott's grocery close at 10:00 a.m. for the day. Other business houses will be closed during the day.
Mr and Mrs Charles Walker and family from West Baden spent the weekend with his parents Mr and Mrs Wade Walker and family.
Mr and Mrs Frank Guyatt host Friday activities at 2 o clock. Choir rehearsal Friday 7 30 pm. Sunday services at 9 30 am and 10 35 am. Rev Schoolfield preaches Come tarry go. Epworth League 6 30 pm with anniversary address by Dr John McFall district superintendent and third quarterly meeting to follow. Special invitation offered.
A prayer meeting supplemented by a prohibition program led by John Huddleston and Mrs. Lough of Indianapolis was held at Blue River Wesleyan church. This Sabbath offerings include Sunday School at 9:30, services at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. A relaxed attendance last Sunday invites all to return and join the services.
The Young Quakers Class will organize the Evening Worship program for next Sunday. Cradle Roll Day will be observed in Sunday school with babies to be added to the roll and related exercises. The Union meeting at the Auditorium drew a large crowd with Howard Ewbank and Franklin George speaking. strong interest noted.
The Young People’s Society will meet Monday night at Rev Craw ley’s home. Members should meet at McCarty’s Drug store at 7 30. Sunday school resumes next Sunday at 9 30. An all day meeting is planned for June 1 at Manilla home of Mr and Mrs Paul Linton hosted by Christian Helpers. Further announcements next Sunday.
The notice invites all to Sunday school at 9:30 and church at 11:00 next Sunday. It emphasizes the value of Sunday school for all ages and urges parents to attend with their children. A prayer meeting is scheduled every Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Henry Henley Public Library board met Tuesday night with good attendance. Librarian Miss Clark announced a letter from Washington DC stating that United States George Washington Bicentennial Commission material for the 200th anniversary will be sent to the library in three volumes, two already received. The books are described as very interesting.
Mrs Cresse Akers and Roy Renegar spent Thursday and Friday with D F Akers at Nova Ohio.
