The Rush County Historical Society met at the museum with a large turnout. Henry Stinger welcomed attendees and introduced the Sandcreek High School Folk Song Chorus led by Joyce Allen. The program featured old favorites sung a cappella and included a brief business meeting with committee reports. A coin display by Jack Mosley, ancient and European pieces, and notes on mint marks and coin collecting were shared by Stinger.

The Seventy Seventh Annual Carthage High School commencement honored twenty six 1958 graduates at the Community Center auditorium. Principal Charles Morris presided as diplomas were presented by County Superintendent Charles DeMunbrun and salutatorian Robert Harrold was announced. The event featured the WLC cup for top scholar James Terhune and Citizenship awards to Maryin Jackson and Robert Harrold. Baccalaureate had been heldSunday with Rev. Davis delivering the sermon and the chorus performing Green Cathedral Halls of Ivy.
