Odell Pitts of Rushville faces 500 dollars in damages after a Thursday afternoon crash on North Main Street. Miss Georgia Ann Matney of Glenwood was driving northbound and collided with Pitts’ parked late model car in the 900 block while attempting to pass a truck. Death of Virgil Heathcock Former Carthage Athlete
Word has been received of the death of Virgil Heathcock formerly of Carthage who died Tuesday in Washington from a coronary heart attack. Heathcock an athlete at Carthage High School later worked for the Federal Government in the Capitol and was remembered for his basketball play as a student. He graduated from Carthage High in 1922.

State Highway Department counters across 23 locations show the Mays Carthage road in Rush County recording only 222 vehicles in March, a 16.5 percent drop from the prior year. The highest statewide count was 7,919 on U.S. 31 near Edinburg. Mrs Marble Edwards of Athens Alabama visits the Taylors.

A former Mays man, Fred Netherly, 44, was arrested in Muncie on a federal warrant charging him with using the mails to send obscene literature.
