Carthage P T C honored the 1962 graduating class with a cooperative dinner at the Carthage Community Center attended by about 125 guests. The event featured a program with remarks from Rev C C Fields, entertainment by the Down Beats from Indianapolis, and a book review by Jack Douglass. The Rush County Vocational Agriculture Teachers and Extension Agents met May 4 at the Brashabers home in Mays. Plans outline a May 31 4H Beef Tour starting 8:30 am with stops at Keith Rheadawn Darlene Murphy Jerry Fudge and A J Meyer plus a noonRushville meal, a 1:00 pm stop at Dean and Myron Miller and a 2:00 pm stop at Kathy Heeb with showmanship and health rules discussed. A weight guessing contest is planned. June 2 4H Conservation Field Day begins 9:00 am at the fair grounds with leaders named for forestry soil conservation wildlife and entomology. A 4H swine tour is tentatively set for June 26 with Purdue expert Jim Foster assisting. Entry deadline for 5 Acre corn and soybean is June 1 from the County Extension Office. Next meeting is June 22 at the Clifton home.

Rush County voters rejected a proposed single unit school plan by 3 084 to 736 with only one precinct favoring it. Ripley precincts showed heavy opposition and Posey Township joined mainly against the plan. overall support was minimal across the county.
