Survived by widow Minnie B and four children, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, plus several siblings and a cousin. Funeral Tuesday at Walnut Ridge church with two pastors officiating. burial in Walnut Ridge cemetery.

Caves at Spring Mill Draw Indiana Academy Visitors
Members of the Indiana Academy of Science visited Spring Mill state park May 3 and 4 for a two day Spring Meeting. They toured Twin and Donaldson Caves part of the Mitchell Plain subterranean drainage system housing blind streams and unique stalactites. Former Carthage Resident Mercer Dies in Plainfield
George E. Mercer aged 74 died at his Plainfield home from a stroke suffered months earlier. He lived in Carthage from 1890 to 1901 with Joseph Goar, owned a West Mill meat market, and bought livestock. He later worked in Indianapolis stockyards until recently. Survivors: widow Ida, sons Walter and John, daughters Katherine Bullington, Jessie Dixon, Edith Williams. Funeral Friday 2 p.m. at Rushton Hampton. Maple Hill Cemetery.
