Mort Spencer Dies at Arlington Home
Mort Spencer age 71 died Thursday morning at ten at the Arlington home of his nephew John Alsman after a brief illness. Born in Rush County he lived here all his life and was the last of his four siblings. Nieces and nephews survive including Mrs Warren Nelson Mrs Chas Rucker Tom and Warren Jordan John Alsman Albert Reddick Miss Myrtle Alsman Miss Marie Alsman Arnold and Charles Alsman. Funeral Saturday at two p.m. at the nephew's home with burial in East Hill.

Disturbance Leads to Fines in Carthage Incidents
At about ten thirty Saturday Marshal McCorkhill arrested a Knightstown youth who called himself Curtis Rice for driving a car up and down Carthage streets and idling the engine. Rice was fined three dollars plus costs totaling twelve dollars in Justice court. In Justice Rhodes' court Saturday Albert Hill v Cecil Deweese for possession of real estate was heard with judgment for seven dollars and costs and possession awarded.

Funeral Services for J Russell Publow Held in Carthage
Funeral services were held at the Friends church in Carthage for J Russell Publow who died at Methodist hospital in Indiana on April 30. The service featured Dr J R Furbay and Rev Pickett with Frank Guyatt officiating. The crowd of five hundred included Carthage school personnel and civic leaders, with floral tributes and many friends recalling Publow's community service.
