Minor Collision on East Mill Street Reported
William Loveall driving a two door Model A Ford collided with Ernest Heim's parked truck on Hast y Mill street around 5 30 last Thursday afternoon. Loveall backed from a parking place in front of Smiths Meat Market and struck the Heim truck, damaging the left rear corner of the car and a corner of the truck. The collision was investigated by Lon McCorkle, constable.

Amos Hill Retired Farmer Dies at 79
Amos Hill 79, a well known retired farmer from Ripley township near Carthage, died at 9:30 a m Thursday after a stroke on March 20. He was born June 1, 1859, lived most of his life in the Carthage area, was a Friends church member, unmarried, and survived by niece Ruth White and nephew Fred White. Funeral at Thompson Funeral Home Saturday 10:30 a m with Riverside cemetery burial.

State Band Contest At Knightstown
The State Band and Orchestra Contest for Class C will be held in Knightstown on Saturday May 6. Seventeen bands and seven orchestras will participate. Bands include Winchester Greenfield Union City Canneton Huntingburg Racoon Township Bloomingdale Clay City Danville Arno Plainfield Westfield Dover Pocket and Knightstown. The event marks the first sight reading judging. Bands perform three selections in the high school gym and the Knightstown High School Band plays Adventures March Overture Militaire and Amphion Overture. Class C orchestras Wilkinson Winchester Rockport Klondike Glen Mooresville and Riley contend for first division awards in the Chapel at Morton Memorial. A Baton Twirling Contest for Class C drum majors is also scheduled. Nationally known judges will preside and decisions are final. A parade led by the Knightstown Beginners Band will route downtown if weather permits with cups awarded for playing and marching.

Man Found Unconscious on Bell's Hill Road
John Fry, a former resident, was found unconscious along the Carthage-Knights town pike near Bell's Hill around 4:30 Monday. Taken to Rushville City Hospital, his condition remained serious with cerebral hemorrhage considered. Fry, who lived in Lynn, Ind, had recently married Pearl Rucker and worked for Verne Plummer.

Fire Destroys Historic Carthage Landmark at Hill House
Fire swept through the Fredrickia Hill property last Friday around 2 15 pm reducing the interior to ashes while outside walls and roof fragments remained. Charles Whitfield and family occupied the house which was owned by Mrs Hill's nephews in Nebraska. Insurance covers the loss and plans call for a remodeled smaller bungalow to be built soon.
