Wave of hog thefts hit Rush County farms
Sheriff Bert George reports about 75 hogs stolen from three farms in southeastern Rush County over the weekend. The heaviest loss at Milroy involved about 50 hogs, all with bobbed tails and weighing 40 to 60 pounds, from a site off the highway. The raid also took roughly 13 hogs from a second farm and about a dozen from a third, with one farm located in Decatur County though owned by a Rush County resident.

The Container Corporation of America will give free tree seedlings at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 3 at the Richmond YMCA and YWCA Woodland ten miles east of Knightstown near U S 40. Purdue Extension Forester A N Liming and Henry County Soil Conservationist Fred Huelson will discuss soils and planting. The 96 acre woodland is owned by the YMCA YWCA of Richmond and will be managed as a model site with cooperation from Purdue. The last harvest yielded veneer bolts pulpwood and sawlegs for about 62 per acre. The aim is to show small landowners profitable management. next cutting is in ten years. Everyone is welcome.
