Carthage Lions Plan Talent Show and Girls State Sponsorship

At a Monday dinner, the Carthage Lions outlined a talent show set for Friday April 7 at the Community Center. Frank Hampton chaired the committee and led group singing. Hubert Hunt presided over the meeting. Donald Ruby won the attendance prize. The club voted to co sponsor a girl to Girls State again this year with further talent show details to follow.

Chi Rho Meeting At East Street Church

The Chi Rho group met Monday evening at 7 at East Street Christian Church. Christian and Bible pledges were given. The Container Corporation of America reports 1960 consolidated sales of 327,262,662 and earnings of 17,076,427 after preferred dividends, with 1.57 per share on 10,672,923 shares. 1959 sales were 322,286,816 and earnings per share 1.83 on 10,555,628 shares. The firm opened a Valley Forge center and research labs, expanding packaging research and planned 1961 capital, with Walter Paepcke noted for his 1926 founding role. The annual meeting is set for April 25.

The Hall of Fame Central Committee formed under the Indiana Lions Club plans an Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame with early members likely named next year. The panel, including fans coaches referees and sportswriters, sets strict entry standards but has not fixed nomination rules. No more than two inductees per year, one player and one coach. A museum is part of long range plans.

Kathleen Stoner age 39 of Carthage Rt 1 died Sunday evening in the State Hospital at Richmond. Born December 21 1921 in Mt Comfort she was the daughter of H D and Faye Moore Stoner.
