Fletcher M. E. Church Palm Sunday to Easter Services

Passion Week services run from Palm Sunday March 1 through Easter Sunday March 27 at the Fletcher M. E. Church. The pastor will preach each night and a Good Friday community service will be held March 25 at 1 PM. The choir led morning and evening services with a dress song service before the sermon, and W. S. Leonard Kenworthy of Earlham College spoke at Sabbath School about aeroplanes as Envoys of Good Will or Enemies of Destruction and argued that while physical power prevailed briefly love ultimately wins. Indiana Latin contest names and dates announced

Miss Helen Matlock of Rushville chairs the state high school Latin contest in Rush County with Indiana University Extension Division. The district meets March 26 and the state contest April 8 at Indiana University during the Latin teachers conference. Four divisions reward gold, silver and bronze medals for top finishers.

Webb Bolinger died at 74 from pneumonia on Wednesday at the county Farm. He lived near Carthage for years. a brother in California survives. Burial is at the infirmary cemetery with a graveside service Thursday at 2 p.m. Sunday guests included several locals and visitors from Greenfield Philadelphia and Marion. Other notes mention trips and visits by local residents to California Indianapolis and Amo.

State highway gains 31 miles in Rush county area

The state highway department took over a 2.10 mile road from the junction of U S 40 in Knightstown to the south side of the state home in Center Township. The move shifts maintenance from the county and adds roads numbered 224 and 44 into the state system. Total new mileage brings state control to about 31 miles of county roads.

A niece of Mr and Mrs Charles Butler Harriett Butler of near Knightstown, married Robert McClarnon of near Greenfield at the Butler home in Indianapolis.
