Patrolman Frank Martin of the Rushville Police Department was installed president of the Rush County Lodge Fraternal Order of Police. Other officers installed include Hugh Trowbridge as vice president Melvin McDaniel as secretary treasurer Henry Worth as chaplain and James Kleiman as trustee.
S Sgt Glen N Fitch and Mrs Fitch of Weisbaden Germany announce the birth of a 7 pound son Garrick Nevin on February 18 1963. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Uni Fitch of Carthage.

A baby girl was born Saturday at Rush Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jorden of Carthage.
Wayne Frump, missionary, returns from New Zealand and will give a talk with pictures of the work. The event is this Sunday, March 3 at 7 06 p m at the Little Blue River Church of Christ southeast of Car Esse. Everyone is welcome.
Mr and Mrs David Leisure of Knightstown announce the birth of a daughter Debra Jane weighing seven pounds one ounce born February 8 at Rush Memorial Hospital. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Howard Leisure of Carthage.
Carthage Band Booster organization schedules a meeting on Tuesday March 5 at 7 30 p m at the school to discuss activities and plans.
The Carthage Potter Business Association will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday at noon. The gathering takes place at Geise's Restaurant.
The Carthage Lions Club plans its annual broom sale Monday evening with a house to house canvass by the men. Supper guests Saturday evening were Mr and Mrs Marcus McClurg joined by Mr and Mrs Bob Jackson and Mr and Mrs Delmer Sipes, with an evening of socializing and games.

Mrs. Frank Alexander and Mrs. Eugene R. Gardner will host the Carthage Legion Auxiliary Monday at the Community Center. The Christian Women Fellowship will meet Thursday at the church with Mrs. Russell Shutt and Mrs. Thomas Bash as hostesses.
James Earl Overton Carter of Iowa City died after a one day illness at University Hospital at 8 30 p m February 27 He was born June 4 1903 in Cincinnati Ohio and lived in Carthage before moving to Iowa City 25 years ago He was a custodian at Iowa University and a member of the First Christian Church Iowa Mountain Eers He is survived by a brother Lawrence Carter of Carthage and several cousins Services will be held at Hampton Mortuary Carthage at 2 p m Sunday with burial at Riverside near Carthage
Clar ence Dyer announces the Rush County 4 H Officers Training School at Mays High School on Friday March 8. Registration starts at 7 30 p.m with classes for officers led by 4 H Junior Leaders and adults. Awards include Aber crombie Trophy banners and attendance honors for clubs meeting last year’s standards.
Two Indiana 4 H girls Ruth Gunthorp of Howe and Joyce Rosenbaum of Valparaiso win 1962 state 4 H awards. Gunthorp earns a GM sponsored safety project award and delegates to the National 4 H Club Congress in Chicago. Rosenbaum, a Purdue freshman, wins a dairy foods demonstration award funded by a wrist watch. Both describe long 4 H tenures and farm life in Porter and LaGrange counties.
Congressman Ralph Harvey notes the Presidents plan on health care for the aged drew tepid reaction in Congress. He cites a rival Republican Senate compromise and a Bow bill advocating tax exemption instead of higher Social Security taxes, arguing public pressure will decide the issue.
New Salem Eagles pulled away late to defeat the Local Raiders 61 to 54 in the final game of the season. Salems led 44-39 after three quarters and 25-25 at halftime. Ron Weidner scored 19 for the Raiders and Linville had 18 for New Salem. New Salem seconds beat Carthage seconds 41-30.

Weekend visitors Jeannine Terhune of Taylor University and two classmates Jane Tanneher of Orlando and Jean Rupp of Ohio stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Terhune. James Terhune of Indiana University and his fiancé Fran Way of Indianapolis joined them. On Monday Jeannine slipped and broke a mall bone in her foot after returning to school.
The Woman's Society of the Car riage Friends Church will hold its March meeting at the church on March 5 at 7 30 p m.
The Carthage High School announces honor roll for grades 12 through 9 with named students including Deanna Carroll Kathy Geise Linda Harrold and Sue Ann Siler in grade 12 and Bernita Logan Cheryl Magee Steve Marshall Linda Miller in grade 11. The edition also covers a Junior Class Play promo for March 29 and reports on grade school news and a weekly menu for CHS and the elementary grades with daily meals and classroom highlights.
Mrs. Ann Fitch and Mrs. Foster Wilson with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Proctor dined with Tives Fitch near Rushville for Mrs. Fitchs birthday. Wilbur McCorkle joined Sunday dinner with Norman McCorkle at Greenfield and later visited Mrs. Carl Clouse in Indianapolis with granddaughters. Marcus Pingleton of Kokomo, Odell Pitts and daughter Jan visited East Gate and Ed Wells weekend.

Mrs. Vada Lord of Rural Route 1 on Charlottesville Road escaped serious injury after a one car crash near the Blue River bridge west of Carthage. Her vehicle slid on a slick spot, plunged down an embankment, and she was hospitalized at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville with head and face lacerations. Deputy Harry Levi investigated the 1:30 p.m. incident.
Two Indiana 4 H Club members receive top state awards for 1962 projects. Margaret Offenbacher, 18, Indianapolis, earns clothing program honors and serves as a junior leader, while Eugene Wolf, 18, Attica, is cited as a German Shepherd dog care expert with over 100 dogs and receives a wrist watch.
Indiana's trucking industry sustains 248,209 jobs with a payroll over 1 billion dollars, per the Indiana Motor Truck Association. The 1963 edition of Modern Truck Transportation in Indiana cites taxes of 91.5 million in 1961 and 52.1 million from gasoline and oil taxes, with 352,655 trucks registered statewide. J. E. Nicholas calls the industry solid and vital, providing a public service at reasonable cost while paying taxes to support roads.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rhodes attended a Saturday evening gathering at Mrs. Ethel C. Hartzler’s Rushville home. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Hunt were entertained for Mrs. Hunt’s birthday at their daughter Mrs. Leland Hawkins’ home and family in Muncie.
