The National Council highlights a surge in drunken driving and more injuries and deaths from alcohol related crashes after repeal. Surveys show alcohol factor in about 60 percent of serious accidents and police report rising drunk driving arrests nationwide. The issue endangers health life and property and demands action from both drys and wets.
A group gathered last Sunday for a pitch-in-dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Pitts to honor the birthdays of Mr. Pitts and Mrs. M. J. Bell. Attendees included Mrs. Bertha Bell Don Bell Ethel Bell Dale Brammer and many relatives from Greenfield Indianapolis Charlottesville and surrounding areas.
Miss Irma Adams daughter of Mr and Mrs Willie Adams and Loren R Geise son of Cleve Geise united in marriage Saturday afternoon at the Christian parsonage by Pastor Geo Holwager They will reside on a farm southwest of Rushville

Mr and Mrs A M Holloway of the Morton Hackleman home care for Mr Hackleman and own letters over a century old. The correspondence dates to 1820 from Springboro Ohio and nearby areas to Miss Bailey in Lewisville Indiana. The collection includes a 151 dollar carriage robbery tale and books by Dr Benjamin Franklin and Robert Owen with Indian darts found near Spiceland.
The 1934 35 high school basketball season ends with 717 teams and 64 sectional tournaments this Friday and Saturday across the state. Winners advance to regional play March 9 and 16, then to Butler Field House Indianapolis March 15 and 16 for the Big 16 state title.
Word reached via son Charles Dennis describes the death of Mrs Julia Dennis at 72 from a cerebral hemorrhage while at dinner in Marion Alabama. He recalls her vitality and notes a cemetery memorial lot offered in recognition of her eighteen months of service to the community.
The Little Minister featuring Katherine Hepburn comes to the Auditorium on Sunday and Monday nights March 3rd and 4th. The film portrays Hepburn as the prankish gypsy lass with a tender performance in one of her finest roles. Audience appeal is high with popular prices and wide reach.

A new public library in Morristown was announced in the Delta Chi room of the First Christian church. It houses about 100 volumes and offers fiction biography and history from the State library collection. religious works are included. Open two evenings weekly from 7 to 9 and Sundays 2 to 4. Esther Wayman oversees lending for ten day periods.

The Golden Legion Bible reading for March 3 to 10 covers Psalms 48 through 61 and certificates or schedul cards are available from Pastor Geo Holwager at no cost. The fiftieth anniversary of the Chinese Mission will be observed in Sunday services with a message from the pastor. Evening worship is at 7 00. The young people met with sponsors Mr and Mrs Dayton Stewart Thursday to discuss Christ of Shoes for China. A Quarterly Board meeting is set for Wednesday night March 6 with location to be announced. A Cemetery Association meeting is also planned at the church Sunday afternoon.
Two neighboring churches Hannegan and Carthage Christian plan an attendance contest starting Sunday and ending May 26. The loser provides ice cream for a union picnic. Both churches are nearly equal in size, with Mrs Cecil Pike superintendent at Carthage and Miss Cordelia South holding the office at Hannegan.

The will and two codicils of Mary J. Henley are probated in circuit court. Original dated October 20 1916 with codicil July 1 1919 and second codicil May 21 1934. Bequests include Carthage Monthly Meeting five thousand three hundred to five hundred, Eva Johnson 250, Newton Smith 50, Burney Winslow 50, rest to Albert Johnson and John Johnson with life interest to John and remainder to Helen Weaver. Executors Ruth White and Mabelle Weaver. Several heirs named have died since writing.
Tipley Township Farm Bureau held a meeting at the school Monday evening led by C S Masterson on Why you Should Join the Farm Bureau. George Stites and Arthur Weidner of Rushville spoke. a membership committee was formed. program ladies served light refreshments.
Two bandits robbed Addison's Grocery at Knights Own last Saturday afternoon taking about $20 from the cash register. Mrs. Addison faced a gun but no one was seriously hurt as the suspects fled. a third party waited outside with vehicle issues and fled without license numbers obtained.
Mrs. Eunice H. Dunn and Miss Bertha L. Hill hosted an Indiana turkey dinner in Pasadena on February 20. The event drew Judge and Mrs. Wm. Barnard of New Castle, Mrs. Nathan Nixon, Mrs. Katherine Haugh, Floyd Newby and sons, Walter B. Hill, E. N. Hill of Blaine, and Will Coleman of Carthage, among others, with warm remarks on California weather.
