Two-Story Farm House Burns Near Carthage
The two story farm home of Hugh Birt four and half miles south of Carthage was destroyed by fire Friday after noon. Mr and Mrs Birt and their son Paul Henley and family were dining when alerted by a passerby. Fire spread before help arrived with likely overheating flue in the kitchen though wiring fault was also suggested. The house had recently been wired for REMC electricity. Part of the furniture was saved but most contents were destroyed and the loss is partially insured.

Sister-in-law of local woman dies at home
Mrs. Juanita Tash Dishinger, 24, wife of Eugene Dishinger, died suddenly Friday at her parents home on North Main Street Rushville after a heart attack the previous morning. She was sister-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Stephens.

Mrs Otto Henley died at 8 45 am Friday at her home near Jonesboro after a year of illness. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in Jonesboro. Interment followed at Grant Memorial Park in Marion.
