Carthage Boy Hurt After Bike Crash Saturday

Nine year old Jay Skinner suffered a cut on his right leg and required five stitches after the cycle he rode as a passenger struck a car bumper. The accident occurred Saturday morning in Carthage. Driver Rick Henley, 22, of Carthage, lost control as Skinner was thrown from the motorcycle and rushed to Rush Memorial Hospital.

The McClurg Reunion met Sunday at Rushville City Park with about forty attendees sharing a cooperative meal. Sipes Return From Florida Trip With Family Visit

Mr and Mrs Delmer Sipes returned home Saturday from a Florida trip with their grandson Ronald Alan Monk son of Mr and Mrs Marshall Monk of Jacksonville. They visited relatives in Carthage Charlottesville and Cumberland Ind and stayed with Mr and Mrs Monk and child ren in Jacksonville and with Mr and Mrs Cecil Rohn in Palmetto Florida where they spent one day deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico En route they stopped at White Springs Fla to visit Mr and Mrs Eddie Carter.

Services Held For Leota Burden

Funeral services were held Sunday at Hampton Mortuary Carthage for Leota Burden 93 of Carthage. Burden died Friday at Rowland Nursing Home Rushville where she resided since November 1965. She came to Carthage from Elkhart in 1962 to live with cousin Lucille Burnette who survives along with four grandchildren. Burden formerly worked as elevator operator at Munger Building Elkhart and was a member of St James AME Church. Born October 22 1872 in Arcadia she was the daughter of Dudley Roberts and the wife of William Burden who died in 1948. Burial was at Rice Cemetery Elkhart.

Band Program Moves Into Full Swing in Carthage

The Carthage summer band program moves into full swing starting Monday June 27 with a rebuilding year anticipated by bandmaster Mr Edwards after losing key members. The high school band meets Monday Tuesday and Thursday from 630 pm to 900 pm with officer elections and uniform returns required.

Indiana Bank Controversy and the State Bank Legacy

The 1850 51 constitutional convention split over free banking and a state bank. A compromise created the Bank of the State of Indiana with private stock and no state ownership. Gov Wright denounced the bank as fraud. an investigation followed but the bank remained. Guy Rhodes Dies in Indianapolis At 70

Guy Rhodes 70 of Indianapolis died Friday at his home after a career as employment manager for International Harvester. Born near Carthage, he lived in Indianapolis since youth and belonged to Masons Logan Lodge Shrine Scottish Rite and Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Survived by three sisters, funeral was Monday at Shirley Brothers Irving Chapel with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
