Carthage High School has entered the 1955 Indiana State Fair band parade and contest to be held September 1 at the fairgrounds. Carthage band No 69 will perform under John Medjeski with 46 members including a drum major and baton twirler. Moster Receives 1955 4-H Club Scholarship at Purdue
Joe Moster son of Mr and Mrs James Moster Jackson Township has won a 1955 state 4-H Club scholarship in Purdue University School of Agriculture. at 19 he completed fifty one 4H Club projects and gained fame in beef cattle. He championed the medium weight Hereford at the Indiana State Fair in 1952 and received a 400 Hereford heifer in 1953 for best Hereford record. In 1953 he was state winner in 4-H Field Crops earning a trip to the National 4-H Club Congress. He has served as Junior Leader for four years and plans to enroll in Purdue Agriculture in September.

Quincey Buckner Dies in Carthage at 89
John Quincey Buckner 89 died suddenly at his Carthage home after living there for years. Born December 25, 1865 in Laurel Indiana, he was married in 1921 to Emma Howard and was a member of the A M E church. Survivors include Emma his widow a niece Ethel Buckner Indianapolis a nephew Willis Sommerville Shelbyville and a cousin Mrs Helen Moore Rushville. Funeral services will be at Wyatt Moore Memorial Rushville Friday at 2 PM with Rev William Bivins. Interment East Hill Cemetery Rushville.
