Mrs Roy Renegar Hurt In Automobile Accident

She was taken to Major hospital in Shelbyville for X rays and later moved to the home of Mrs Anna Downey in Arlington. Her four month old baby was not with them and Miss Joy Downey suffered minor cuts and bruises.

Young Men With Broken Legs Improving After Crash
George Leisure 22 son of Mr and Mrs Harry Leisure of near Carthage and Earl Stewart 21 son of Mr and Mrs Charles Stewart of Mays were injured in a motor accident on the national road near Cumberland Thursday night. Blinded by lights another car, Leisure's vehicle left the road and hit an abutment. Both men were taken to City hospital Indianapolis with broken legs and severe injuries and were reported improving Wednesday.

Ten year old boy dies of lockjaw in Indiana
Funeral services were held at Clarksburg Christian Church for Loren Crawley who died after a foot splinter became infected. The ten year old son of Mrs. James Crawley of near Clarksburg died Saturday night at Riley hospital in Indianapolis. Survivors include five brothers and his mother. Rev. Walter Crawley and Rev. G S McGaughey officiated. Burial was in Stips Hill cemetery.

Two barns and a milk house on the Hurst Sargant farm south of Shiveley's corner were struck by lightning last Wednesday afternoon around 3 30 during a rain storm. A large quantity of grain and farming implements stored in the buildings were destroyed. loss is estimated as substantial. The farm is tenanted by Leo Kesling and was formerly home to Mrs. Maud Stewart before she moved to Carthage.

Oil and Gas Drilling Booms in Southwestern Indiana
A surge in oil and gas drilling is reported in southwestern Indiana with 25 wells in progress and 15 completed in the past month. Gas targets include Daviess and Knox counties while oil wells are under way in Pike Posey Gibson Vanderburgh and Perry counties. Indiana Democrats at the state convention nominated Lieutenant Governor M. Clifford Townsend of Marion for governor on the first ballot as the roll call proceeded.
