Students of Miss Pam Hunt present a dance revue tonight with guest entertainers. The show is set for Friday June 17 at 8 p.m. at the Community Center.
Den No 2 gathered Tuesday June 14 at Mrs Lettie May home with six members. The group discussed the monthly theme and played games. Mrs May supplied refreshments. The next meeting is scheduled for June 21 at 3 pm at Mrs May's. Denner Mike Back.
Herbert Stark, 23, of Carthage, was fined 46.50 in Justice of the Peace Court Rushville on drunken driving and reckless driving charges. He was arrested Tuesday night by State Trooper Morris Shady. Fines include 10 and costs for drunk driving plus 1 and costs for reckless driving and a one year license suspension.
Hugh Weber had surgery at Rush Memorial Hospital Friday morning. David Ruby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ruby, is convalescing at home for a few weeks and slowly improving. Mrs. John Porter entered Community Hospital in Indianapolis Saturday for observation.
The Carthage Businessmen Association sponsors a sidewalk sale this Saturday June 18 with most merchants co operating. Several stores advertise special bargains in page 3 ads.
Mrs. Margaret Hinshaw and son John Hinshaw attended the commencement exercises at New Castle High School. Susan Hinshaw, Mr Hinshaw's daughter, was among the graduates.
The M Y F met at the church at 7 30 p m on June 13 The president Jeannine Terhune led the session It discussed the June 25 Ice Cream Social and scheduled a committee meeting It also voted on a film for July 18 to view the Brussels World Fair and planned a June 26 Bike Hike The group adjourned to refreshments.
Mrs. Mary Joseph and her son Mike arrived in Indianapolis by plane from California. They spent two enjoyable weeks visiting Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Albers in Norwalk near Los Angeles and returned home Tuesday.
Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blessinger and their daughter were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Welsh and family and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gast of Savannah Georgia. Little Miss Jeannie Welsh stayed for a two week visit.
Mr and Mrs Louis Humes came home Sunday from a ten day fishing trip to Tomahawk Wisconsin Also on the trip were Mr and Mrs Richard Stumpf and son of Indianapolis and Mr and Mrs Fred Pfieffer of Elmhurst Illinois The group traveled together for the vacation and returned as planned.
The T. H. Miner family reunion was held Sunday June 12 at Sunset Park Knightstown with about thirty guests. Three living children of thirteen attended: John Miner Elmina Parish of Carthage and Oma Bowman of New Castle. Officers for next year are Russell Davis president and Maxine Riggs secretary treasurer. Relatives came from Indianapolis Mooresville New Castle Knightstown and Carthage. Attending Carthage were Russell Reddick Maxine Riggs Dixie Lee Riggs Elmina Parish Mable Manche Ross Manche John Miner and Mr and Mrs Eugene Reddick and daughter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hampton Mortuary in Carthage for Mrs. Alice W. Silver of Elwood. Born September 15, 1880 in Shelby County, she lived in Shelby and Rush Counties before 1925. She was the widow of Frank Silver, who died in 1944, and she was survived by a stepson Lee Silver of Charlottesville a grandson Jerry Silver of Anderson and a niece and nephew. The Rev. Harry Cooper officiated and burial followed at Little Blue River Wesleyan Cemetery.
The June Rush County Junior Leaders meeting welcomed Shelby County guests with pledges and devotions. Members split into groups to sell mail bow signs and desk markers for a month, with a picnic for the winning team. Delegates announced and speeches highlighted citizenship themes. Judy Alexander and David Bills won district contest spots, while Amy Sue Addison performed a piano duet.
The Carthage Home Garden Club gathered Tuesday afternoon at Mrs. Chola Ewing's home with thirteen members and two guests Mrs Olive Poston and Mrs Willella Henley present. Ona Hunt was named horticulture chairman and Helen Patton reported on library flower plantings as refreshments were served.

Indiana scouts from all over the state will be admitted free to the Indiana State Fair on Scout Day August 31 in uniform or with 1960 IDs. Carthage earned its third win by defeating Arlington 6 to 4 as Ross beat International 7 to 4 in Arlington last Friday. Carthage outhit 8 to 4 but drew 13 walks, with back to back doubles by Bob McCorkle and Fred Magee driving in runs. Arlington’s Binder, Baker and Knoop led hitters for their team in a tight league card.
The Carthage Better Business Association will host a dinner and social for members and their spouses at seven PM Monday in the Hoosier Manor dining room Carthage.
Mr and Mrs Mike Watkins of Carthage announce the birth of a 4 pound 10 ounce boy named Patrick Michael born Wednesday June 15 at Rush Memorial Hospital. Grandparents are Ralph Mosier of Carthage and Billy Watkins of Nashville Indiana.
