Toluca mining find captured by improvised camera rig
In Toluca Illinois three men Jack Gerardo Frank Ger ardo and Bob Gudérian used a 15 year old $2 box camera and flashlight projector rigged with aces wire to drop into Toluca Mine No 1 at night and photograph the shaft bottom where Dominic Valesano's body lay. State mine officials had earlier failed to locate the body with modern equipment.

Walter Peters, 61, Rushville township justice of peace, received a one to five year prison term after admitting guilt to embezzling 1024 dollars of public funds. Funeral Held for Eli Hill Former Carthage Resident
Funeral services were held at Davis Funeral Home in New Castle for Eli Hill 87 a former Carthage resident. He died at his sister Mrs Elizabeth Williams in Spiceland. He was born in North Carolina and lived on a farm near Carthage and later near Spiceland. He married Josephine Buch of Indianapolis and survived by sister Mrs Williams. Another sister Mrs Margaret Hill McCarter preceded him in death in Topeka Kansas.

Two Carthage Firms Change Proprietors
In Carthage two long known businesses changed owners last week. Loyall J. Hunt’s grocery and meat market, leased for two years, was sold to Walter Addison who will run a meat market with A. W. Winfield’s grocery. Walter J. Phelps, who retired in 1937 after twenty years at the site, sold the fixtures. Addison takes possession June 29. The Auditorium Theatre, run by Malcolm Herrington, was sold to Kenneth Bowersock of Indianapolis. The theatre will be repaired and redecorated in coming weeks. Bowersock, a husband and father of three, plans three nightly showings of first run pictures with extra attractions and modern cinema productions. Herrington and town records note the sale.
