Poultry Committee Plans Culling Demo and Extension School
The Bush County Poultry Committee met June 6 at the county extension office to plan a poultry culling demonstration for June 21. The event will be in the morning with invites to all 4H poultry raisers and interested parties. A site will be announced soon. The group also tentatively set December 5 for the county poultry extension school and planned an egg auction visit to the Ohio Valley Egg Cooperative at Milford on August 29, involving Rush County poultry producers.

Grant Henley Named President of Carthage Lions Club
The Carthage Lions Club held an unexpected mealless meeting last Monday to elect officers for the coming year. Grant Henley won the presidency over Otto McCarty by a wide margin as the Bull Moose ticket defeated the Prohibition ticket. Other officers include Ben Neal and Beverly Berninger as vice presidents, Ralph Truitt as third vice president, Ross Tweedy as treasurer, Parvel Moore as lion tamer, and Harry Leisure as tail twister. A vote authorized buying Lions shirts and caps for the softball team. Henley was named delegate to the International convention in Philadelphia with Arthur Winfield as alternate. George Moore spoke on a proposed world government based on law, referencing The Anatomy of Peace. Installation is set for June 17 at the Blue Bird cafe in Morristown. Delegates Hugh Weber, Thomas Bush, Otto McCarty, and Grant Henley were selected for the Lafayette Indiana state convention starting June 22.
