Boy Kidnapping Case Ends in Death Near Princeton

James B. Skeegie Cash aged five was found dead about a mile from Princeton Florida on Cocoanut Palm road after abductors. Federal agents report body located at 1203 AM Thursday. Suspect Francis Pierce McCall, former resident of the Cash home, admits writing ransom notes and receiving the ransom payment on May 30.

Mrs Myers Dies Suddenly After Memorial Day Visit to Speedway

Mrs. Theodore E. Myers wife of the Indianapolis Speedway general manager died Friday from a heart attack. She attended the races on Memorial Day and had been in good health. Funeral services were held Monday.

Goat Explodes After Drinking Gasoline on Carlinville Farm

A nanny goat on a Carlinville Illinois farm drank gasoline from a dishpan and exploded after a tenant farmer group cleaned implements on a Tuesday. One man lit a pipe and dropped a match, prompting a blast that killed the goat. Arnold Garlo and Melvin Miller were present.

Woman Bites Policeman Fined in Bloomington Court

In Mayor A. H. Berndt's court, Mrs. Lela Foster, 28, of Bloomington Indiana was found guilty of biting and scratching State Policeman Raymond Howard. A $1 fine and 30 day sentence were imposed, suspended, with a warning not to bite any more policemen.

French air attack prompts Daladier to order shootdown rule

Nine gray planes of unknown nationality bombed French territory on Sunday. Premier Daladier ordered that any further aircraft over France be shot down without warning. Witnesses traced the planes to the Spanish border, fifty miles toward central France, where observers said they were surveying the area.

Congress Framing End of Session If Wage Hour Bill Agrees

Congressional leaders met with President Roosevelt to consider adjourning this week if an early agreement on the wage hour bill is reached. Representative Rayburn of Texas said the last major item, a $300 million deficiency measure, would be reported to the House tomorrow and could pass Wednesday.

A 1938 survey shows Carthage population fell to 970 from 1327 year earlier as housing remains tight. There are six empty houses and 291 homes house 970 residents, with 55 two family and 18 three family dwellings.

Remarkable Attendance Record Set By Local Graduate

Miss Virginia Frances Witz of Manilla earned a Ball State Teachers College degree after completing fourteen years of perfect attendance. She graduated from Manilla High School in 1936 and participated in dramatic productions, the county oratorical contest, the speech choir, and the Ball State bowling team. Commencement was held June 8 in Muncie with related events June 5 6 1936.

County road to Carthage will be black topped this summer

The Indiana county plans hard-surfacing 19.5 miles of roads this summer led by the Carthage southeast to Posey line project. Three miles toward Posey and additional segments from Raleigh to the county line and Milroy will be paved as WPA labor supports the $65,000 road program.

Court suit at Hancock Circuit asks dismissal

A. R. Pollard as receiver in Everett Button et al v Clarence Haskett seeks removal of Verna Haskett as administratrix of Clarence Haskett estate. The petition alleges Haskett owned 45 shares in Citizens Bank of Charlottesville, liquidated, with a $42,639.27 judgment plus 4 percent interest since October 10, 1936. The administratrix has made little effort to pay, and the estate holds real estate to satisfy the judgment.

Vacation Bible School Opens Monday Morning

Carthage Daily reports Vacation Bible School started Monday with 85 children present and 100 total in attendance. Through Thursday the totals rose to 119, with chair additions needed as numbers exceeded expectations.
