In 1883 A J Leffingwell plowed a prairie field and left the plow in a berr oak sapling near a grove between Extra and Brayton. The sapling grew around the implement sealing it inside the trunk. Funeral services were held for Kenneth Wilcoxon aged 36 son of Mr and Mrs Caleb Wilcoxonville after he died Friday night in a New Orleans hospital from injuries after a 30 foot fall while trimming branches for a utility company near Picayune Mississippi. He had worked in the south for about three months and previously with the Shelby County rural electrification project and Rushville Telephone Company.
