Sorority Luncheon Card Party At Community Center

The Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority hosted a public luncheon card party at the Community Center on Wednesday afternoon. About sixty members and guests attended, enjoying decorated tables and games of bridge ouchre and canasta. Prizes were awarded for the highest scores at each table.

Three Carthage ministers and their families met last Saturday for a picnic at Fletcher Methodist parsonage. Mrs Ethel Hampton Dies At 82 In Bedford

Ethel Hampton age 82 of Bedford died Monday evening at Dunn Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was mother to five children and grandmother to 30, with 52 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Four children predeceased her. Services Friday at 10 am at Dayland Carter Funeral Home Bedford with burial Beech Grove Cemetery.

The Carthage Legion Auxiliary held its regular meeting at the Community Center with Mrs. Delmer Sipes and Mrs. Kenneth Rhodes as hostesses. Mrs. Sipes presided as reports on the Cancer Drive and Poppy Sales were given. Officers elected include president Mrs. Forrest Nabb historian Mrs. Robert Jackson sgt at arms Mrs. Sam Nigh. The executive committee will attend the August convention at French Lick Hotel with members including Mrs. Forrest Beck and Mrs. Delmer Sipes and alternates. Refreshments were served.

Carthage Home Garden Club To Host Spring Flower Show

The Carthage Home Garden Club presents a spring flower show at the Community Centers on Thursday June 13 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM. The theme is There's No Place Like Indiana with artistic arrangements horticulture specimens and house plants. Three accredited judges will judge the exhibits and refreshments will be served. Mn and Mrs. Tom McClurg sold their south Carthage home and 16 acres to Mr. and Mrs. Leon Whitfield who plan to move around July 1. The McClurgs will relocate to the former Russell Reddick home on R. 2 after selling their own property.
