Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Sullivan near Gwynneville for Fleming Ball age 77 who died last Friday night. Rev E R Schwartz led the service and burial followed at Asbury cemetery with funeral director L V Hauk in charge. Survived by two sisters Mrs Sullivan and Mrs Jane Bunker and two brothers Eli Ball of Anderson and Noah Ball of Indianapolis plus several nieces and nephews.

Rush County superintendent John E. Goode announced the election of teachers for the Homer and Manila schools for the fall term. Manilla high school lists Paul Linton as principal with Clarine Carmory Beulah Phares Arthur Gross Paul Imel and Joenita Burd and Helen Thomas on the staff. Grade school staff includes Freida Chappell Ruth Hester and Frances Hilburt. Homer grade school names Kenneth Earnest as principal with Blanche Brown Kathryn Zike Nordberg and Daisy Thomas on the faculty.
Junior Sullivan son of Mr and Mrs Leonard Sullivan was taken to Methodist hospital Saturday night for an emergency appendicitis operation. He is reported improving very rapidly.
Weekly papers across the country join to present a nation wide straw vote in small towns and rural areas. The plan aims to forecast the November election by collecting ballots from diverse regions and groups, continuing a tradition begun in 1924 and expanded in 1928 and 1932. (Continued on page five).

A dog owned by Eugene Gardner captured both line and tree money in the seventh Shelby County Coon Hunters race at Burl Kennedy farm near Arlington last Friday night. Line judges were Alva Hurst and George Carwein. free judges were Lewis Gowdy and Rev Morris Wilson. The next event will be at Harold Linville’s home.
A correction states Ramona Jane Winfield will attend Butler University rather than Indiana University as previously published. It also notes Maxine Gardner and Frank Wantz were married in Mitchell Indiana not in Mitchell India.
Mr and Mrs Malcolm Herrington announce the birth of an eight pound baby boy named Dale William born last Thursday morning. Both mother and infant Dale William are reported to be doing well with Mr Herrington also in good health.
