Morristown Fire Causes Major Loss and Wide Damage

A large Morristown fire around 8 30 p m Wednesday damaged several properties including a coal shed behind E M Unger s residence and a lumber company stock. Losses were estimated at about 375 000 with notable hits to Allen A Wilkinson Lumber Co and E M Unger s eight room dwelling. Fire crews from Morristown Indianapolis and Carthage fought the blaze, water supply was stretched, and a nearby reservoir aided efforts.

Canning Factories End Season With Large Output

Greenwood plant closes peas and beets packing after a 29 453 case run with 24 cans per case. About 350 acres of June peas and 100 acres of dried peas processed. Snider plant at Fairmount runs six months packing spinach beets corn tomatoes and pumpkin. Beet season began last week. 425 workers. payroll over $8 000 weekly. farmers to be paid over $60 000.

Wheat arrivals and yields from local farms at Hill Grain Elevators

About 1 500 bushels of wheat arrived Wednesday from the Frank Reddick Ross Souder and Ora Siler farms with yields ranging 17 to 61 bushels per acre. Market price Thursday set at 1 28 per bushel for No 2 wheat. Ry e work completed on Osborn 360 bus on 18 acres and threshing planned for several farms including Oldham Ollie Siler Alva Newsom and Riley Earnest with work beginning Saturday at Walter Binford's.
