The Christian Helpers announce a fan ice-cream and cake festival to be held Saturday night July 22 at Butler's shop. Proceeds support local church activities and community outreach.
Robert Hinshaw son of Mr and Mrs W N Hinshaw married Miss Mary Walls daughter of Mr and Mrs William Walls Knightstown at 8 30 Friday evening in the residence of Rev C O Whitely. The bride's uncle Burkett Knightstown drove them here in an automobile and witnessed the ceremony. The couple will reside in Knightstown where Robert is a bill clerk at the Big Four station after a short trip to Chicago.
Postmaster Enos Coffin was notified that rural route carriers from Carthage will start July 1, 1911 receiving higher salaries. J Butler Hill and H G Henley each with over 24 miles gain 100 per year to total 1000. W T Hill with 22 miles adds 96 to reach 996. H O Pitts increases from 720 to 800.
Will Smith is employed by Carthage Telephone Company to repair and maintain exterior lines. He is tasked with inspecting poles and wires, replacing damaged equipment, and ensuring service reliability for local subscribers.
Edward Burns grabbed six store employees at B L Gates jewelry and fled with two trays of diamonds worth 25000. H L Stinger pursued and restrained Burns near the waterfront until Patrolman Unland arrived. All diamonds were recovered and returned to the store.
Union services at East St Christian church Sabbath night drew a large crowd. East St and Fletcher M. E. church orchestras accompanied Miss Elsie Wall at piano. Pastor W. J. Evans led the program with prayer and scripture read by Rev. C N Willson. Whitely preached on labor for eternal life. Whitely to preach at Wesleyan church Sunday night. Epworth League to meet Fletcher M. E. church at 6 30 pm. Christian Endeavor societies hold regular meetings at Christian and Friends churches.

The Aid Society of the Church of Green plans its sixth annual excursion on August 8. The trip by train to Dayton and Louisville includes a stop at the Range four miles east of Green, with fares of 2.00 for Knightstown points, 1.10 for under twelve, 1.85 for adults and 1.00 for children. The event attracts many, features city views, and includes access to the Indiana Reformatory at Jeffersonville and a Ohio River ride. The trip departs Charlottesville at 6:01 a.m. via Indianapolis, with emphasis on orderly travel and business-friendly conduct. The notice also reports local social updates from Charlottesville and Knightstown residents.
The Knightstown Cider and Sorghum Factory will start cider on August 1, 1911 and operate Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly. Sorghum production begins September 1, 1911. The plant serves Henry Rush and Hancock counties with a 100 ton cider press, 5000 gallons daily capacity, and a 600 gallon per day sorghum mill. Westfield Bible Institute under the Bible School Committee of Westfield Quarterly meeting of Friends will be held at Westfield August 11 to 20 with William M. Smith as instructor. The institute welcomes all believers for devout Bible study and lodging may be arranged in the Seminary building. An announcement adds Union Bible Seminary opens September 19 at Westfield with Smith as Superintendent to train ministers missionaries and Bible teachers. The new position requires Rev Smith and family to move to Westfield.
Mr and Mrs Rollin Risk of Mooresville hosted guests last week including Bert Evans Henry County prosecutor Jim Bosley New Castle chief of police M Kyser Orlando Kyser Will Strawn and his nephew from St Louis along with Mrs M J Kyser and Everett Kyser.

Ed Adkins shipped a carload of hogs from Farmers Tuesday with four sheep weighing 1020 pounds total. The flock, bought from Henry Leisure and consigned to Mansfield & Co, marked the largest sheep ever received at the Indianapolis market. Mr Adkins reported a good market for the hogs.
C O Whitely announces arrangements with Supt Blizard for the Winona excursion train to stop at Marion both ways on July 26. Carthage residents may have Marion friends join. tickets available locally. The train is due in Marion about 8 30 am and local agent J A Walter can provide details.

Alvin King of Kentucky visits sister Mrs Harvey Hall. They leave Carthage at 6 30 a m July 26 for Winona Lake on a 1 25 round trip.
