Residents and relatives from diverse towns share visits and family news. A birth records a daughter, Ethel Pauline, born July 10 to Perry and his wife. Several households report guests from Indianapolis to Liberty and Knightstown with related illnesses and gatherings.
Benton Henley hosted fifteen guests for a Saturday three course luncheon with pink and white decor. Rosemary Henley appeared as bride elect with Galliene Henley as train bearer, sharing roses and wedding announcements for Miss Claribel Sipe and Ralph Bentley Winslow, whose August 11 ceremony is planned. Outer guests included Miss Florabel Huber of Connerville and Miss Dorothy Sipe of Indianapolis.
The E. L. B. O. W. announces a market Saturday afternoon to be held at the Electric Light office.
Mrs John Julian remained quite ill Thursday. Mr and Mrs Frank McCullough were in Fountain City Sunday. Rev Dawson D Hall of Indianapolis will lead an all day meeting at the Little Blue River Church of Christ with a basket dinner. Mr and Mrs E D Lewis of Little River Florida passed through Monday en route to Fairmount and Hartford City and plan a visit.
Mrs Cassius Gray aged 65 of Shelby County died Saturday night at St. Vincent’s Indianapolis after a goitre operation. Survived by husband and four children Ralph Gray Margaret Stanley George Gray Harriett, plus three brothers Bert Remus and Charles McDonald. Funeral held at the Charlottesville Friends Church, burial near Shelbyville. Attendees included relatives from Miami Chicago and various Indiana towns. Burial place noted. Job Printing of all kinds done at this office.
Damage from strong winds and rain struck the area late Friday. A telephone line was cut, several trees fell near Bear Miller's south of town, and roof damage spread across multiple homes including Frank Brooks and Thomas Ryse. Fruit trees suffered losses as well. Temperatures cooled from 60 to 70 degrees with cool nights through Thursday.
Charles Garrison of Lawrence purchases the previously Jackson bakery in Greenfield a seven man shop on Main Street west of the court house. He will take possession Monday and continue operating the local bakery.
Work starts on state highway from Rushville to Indianapolis with the Rushville to Arlington seven mile segment closed. Traffic diverted north on a marked detour as earthwork and hill reduction near Arlington proceed.
A $2,000 insurance policy is offered through Moore's Garage with full details available. An all day meeting is scheduled for August 15 at M. E. church to discuss the policy and arrangements.
