Wheat harvest drives Carthage grain market activity
Wheat coming in fast at the Carthage Grain Elevator as farmers sell despite New Deal loan values. Hogle and Rowan of Lawrenceburg Rolling Mills report strong receipts with 4 126 bushels on Wednesday and other sizable totals. Local buyers like Jesse Henley and Forest Henley participate as markets resemble a Chicago wheat flow with many trucks delivering. Civil location advantages and regional roads boost markets between U S 40 and U S 52 near Rush county, while hog and beef prices show June fluctuations and corn crop forecasts hint at feeding cattle in the fall. Farm women prepare for canning with quantities of 400 quarts reported in Walnut Ridge area.
