Maurice Brooks, former local resident, escaped serious injuries after his car collided with Vern W. Bird's at West Ninth and Perkins intersection in Rushville. Bird, who failed to stop, wrecked his car and a tree. Brooks sustained a scalp laceration and knee injury while Bird and Mrs Bird suffered bruises and a dislocated shoulder. Damages were about 200 and 175 dollars respectively. Bird was fined 13.30 dollars for failure to stop.

Buck Owens Circus Truck Overturns Near Glenwood
A Buck Owens circus truck overturned east of Glenwood early Sunday after a Saturday Rushville appearance. It carried small monkeys whose cages shattered and scattered, but all were recovered. The damaged truck was beyond immediate use and the driver was reported uninjured. Police cited excessive speed as the cause.
