The late Mrs Ann H Hunt who supported temperance bequeathed a framed portrait of Miss Frances Willard to the Clinton County Ohio W C T U. At a Martinsville county institute, Rev Mrs Emma Spencer Townsend presented the gift, praising the deceased and her work with the Union.

Death of Mrs Mary Ann Hill of Ripley township
Mrs Mary Ann Hill a life long Ripley township resident died suddenly Monday night at age 74. Illness began three weeks earlier but she improved. death due to apoplexy occurred after a grandson gave her medicine. She dressed one hundred infants at birth and was active in the Friends Church. Surviving family includes her son R C Hill, daughter Viola Linscott, three brothers, a sister, and several grandchildren. Interment at Friends graveyard with Lewis & Son directing.

Quiet Fourth and travel tales in Carthage crowd
The Fourth was quiet in Carthage with some firecracker fun and night displays as families visited kin in nearby towns. A storm last week struck five telephone poles near Orlie Carter’s home, breaking wires owned by Ripley Farmers Cooperative. Later a Marion interurban collision injured Ruth Lineback and Cornelia Collins, with both girls unable to walk home and taken by cab.
