Clarence E. Dyer, a prominent farmer east of Carthage, won the 1939 state corn title at Purdue University marking his second consecutive victory. He becomes the third to win two straight since 1923. Rufus Franklin Brooks aged 83 died suddenly at his Milroy home last Thursday of a heart attack.
