The St Paul Blasters from Decatur county beat the locals 17 to 13 on Friday night. St Paul led all game, with a 8 to 6 halftime score. Ewing starred for the locals while Platt led the Blasters. St Pauls seconds beat the locals 28 to 18 in the curtain-raiser.
The St Paul Blasters barely outscored the Blue birds high margin game hindered by poor shooting as Glover Bramel and Ewing led in scoring while Milroy and Arlington prep wins highlighted local results. May Tigers upset New Salem 25 20 with Brooks guarding and grabbing a share of goals. Carthage faces a rough horseshoe schedule as junior high stars prepare for a big season.
Eleven stockholders of the Henry Henley Public Library met Tuesday night but failed to form a quorum. They organized a directors meeting with Jesse Henley as president Grace H Porter as secretary Howard E Henley as treasurer and Miss Mattie Clark as librarian Two vacancies were filled by Mrs Lillian Coleman and Mrs Ann J Sipe due to deaths of Mrs Caroline Righter and Mrs Ora D Henley One hundred dollars was approved for new books.
Dr. Sampson S. Sargent a former city physician died in Tampa Florida on Monday at age 51 years He had practiced here for years and later moved to Florida where he settled in Eustis then Tampa He was a graduate of the Medical College in Ohio never married and for years preached to jail inmates on Sunday afternoons and helped the City in reform efforts He was brother of the late Rev James A Sargent son of Thomas M and Rebecca Sargent born in Warren County Ohio Survived by sister Isabel Barnett of Danville Illinois a niece Mrs Loren Edwards St Louis and a nephew Jurst H Sargent Indianapolis Funeral services were held in Tampa and burial was at Woodlawn cemetery
Pauline Strong Taylor wife of Robert Taylor died at home in Pendleton at 4 pm Wednesday after three weeks illness. She was 30, born in Memphis and married in 1927. Survived by husband and mother Mrs Strong of Memphis, sisters Mrs Ruth of Memphis and Mrs Louise Honer of Roanoke Island, plus three brothers Roy Omaha Nebraska Earl Arkansas Ralph Memphis. Funeral at Fletcher M E church Pendleton Friday at 2 pm with Rev Selig in charge. burial in Pendleton cemetery.
Walter C Henley age 72 of Greenfield died at 5 45 pm Monday at his home 426 West Fourth street after two years of ill health and a second stroke three weeks ago He is survived by his widow Caroline B Henley a son Forest of near Greenfield a daughter Mrs Paul F Binford of Greenfield two brothers Harvey J of Miami Florida and Milton of near here Funeral services were held at 10 30 am Thursday at the Friends Church Greenfield with burial at Walnut Ridge cemetery

Henely named directors. Howard E. Henley became cashier with Mabel Phelps and Fred W. Parish as assistant cashiers. The bank notes strong reserves and deposits insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Opening program features Janet Gaynor and Warner Baxter in Paddy and a Tom Boy firey mischievous adventure. Family Night Wednesdays offer 15c adults and 10c children 14 years and under.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for William A. Robinson who died Saturday morning at Judge Henley’s home. Death was due to complications from a broken hip, confined to bed for thirteen weeks. Survived by daughter Mrs. Henley, granddaughter Betty Henley Murray of Hagerstown, and sisters Mrs. Joe Stark and Mrs Frank Davey of Ohio. Rev. Nathan Pickett led the service. interment was at Riverside Cemetery.
Fletcher M E Church reports Epworth League hosted by Mrs Walter Dhonau and Hubert Hill with a school bus trip to a Young People Rally. Rev S L Martin of Seville spoke. Official Board met, choir prepared for Sunday dedication, and special services begin Sunday night for at least two weeks with daily singing and morning worship at 9:30 and 10:35.
The Missionary Society of Friends Church will meet next Wednesday afternoon at 3 o clock with Mrs. Avery and Mrs A W Winfield leading the discussion. The pastor and Rev Holwager attended the Rush County Ministerial Association meeting at Manilla last Monday where Mr Pickett spoke on The Value of Worship and Fellowship. Series of meetings led by Charles E Hiatt in Chester Indiana continue through the week except Saturday night with services at 7 15 each evening inviting neighbors. Charles E Hiatt and Nathan Pickett attended Co vocation at the high school on Thursday.
Brother Holwager returns to preach his first sermon Sunday morning outlining the year's plan. Evening message focuses on the morning theme. Bible School at 9 30. Preaching and Lord's Supper at 8 30 Evening Worship at 7 00. Young People meet at the minister's home Tuesday at 7 00.
