Coleman to Introduce Bill on 3 Percent State Income Tax
Indiana lawmakers will hear Rep. W. S. Coleman propose a 3 percent tax on personal income over 1000 dollars in the upcoming General Assembly. The bill assigns all revenues to the state treasurer to fund state taxes, with any surplus distributed to counties per capita. It defines personal income as wages, salaries, bonuses, profits, gifts, inheritances, and profits from business or investment exceeding six percent on assessed value. Taxpayers with over 1000 dollars must file reports by the first Monday in March. noncompliance allows collection by levy.
