E L B O W met with Mrs Forrest J Kennedy on Tuesday. The Pastor's Aid to meet tonight with Mr and Mrs J A Walter. The Friends Missionary Society met yesterday with Mrs S L Newsom due to weather. E E Brown from Michigan spoke at Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Milwa Abit car of the Chicago Kee and St Paul and C M and Pagefound Railways arrived Tuesday night for a twenty four hour stand. School children and teachers visited the car all day. the exhibit displayed grasses vegetables and other products. an illustrated talk was given at night at the Nickelo Sary.
Honolulu dispatch dated February seven reports the steamer Nippon Maru narrowly escaped disaster when coal shifted in heavy seas. Miss M Page of Berkeley California was knocked into the water by a wave and saved by Miss Ruth Ragen of Denver Colorado who swam to her side until a life boat rescued them. Ragen, en route to Japan as a YWCA secretary, is linked to Louisville area relatives through Mrs Elizabeth J Hill and Mrs Sarah Hathaway Fraser.
The Purdue Special will arrive in Carthage at 11 27 a m and stay until 5 47 p m February 28. About 200 000 people are expected during the itinerary through nearly 200 villages towns and cities. No addresses due to brief stops. farmers and city men may ask questions on agricultural methods. J F Mulligan and Robert Falls, Purdue graduates, in charge will present the university view.

Miss Olive Adams of Green Field was the guest of Mr and Mrs S L Newsom Tuesday. Rev Morton C Pearson resigned as pastor of the First Friends church Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon to accept the post of endowment secretary at Earlham College and will begin his new duties.
Mrs Clarkson Gause hosted the Woman's Literary Circle meeting with vice president Mrs J W Johnson presiding. Papers by Mrs Harry E Stager on The Plains of Esdraelon and by Mrs Eunice S Phelps on Nazareth Dan and Mt Tabor were read. Mrs J C Cox led a discussion on The Sea of Galilee. songs by Mrs A H Johnson and others followed. A guest, Miss Lillian Henley, accompanied on piano. The group noted the Indianapolis Star voting contest and a state federation penny drive based on members ages.

Edna and Ruth Crull attended funerals of Mrs Blount and Mrs Saul in Raleigh Tuesday. Mrs Clara Gorman of Indianapolis visited S C Pitts and family. Nathan Stanley’s cow, bitten by a mad dog weeks ago, grew wild and was killed. Walnut Ridge Quarterly meeting poorly attended due to severe weather. Rev J Edgar Williams sermonized Saturday. Jason Henley of Portland grows weaker. Elwood Henley from Carmel and John Henley from Indianapolis visited. Children of W N Manche scratched by a dog. dog chained and later killed. its head sent to Indianapolis for analysis. children may receive treatment there if needed.
