Local hospital notes list patients and surgeries

Mrs Roy Robertson Sr entered Rush Memorial Hospital for observation. Mrs Albert Ray remains seriously ill at Robert Long Hospital Indianapolis. Mrs Lon McCorkle returned home from Henry County Hospital. Mrs Fred McManus remains at Robert Long Hospital Indianapolis after major surgery. Sam Nigh had surgery at Rush Memorial Hospital. Mrs Jesse Pitts is slowly improving at Rush Memorial Hospital. Randy Nigh son of Mr and Mrs Robert Nigh shows improvement at Rush Memorial Hospital. Jimmy Jackson three month old son of Mr and Mrs Robert Jackson Knightstown had surgery at Henry County Hospital. He is grandson of Mr and Mrs Carrol Stevens. Blackburn Howard of Carthage entered Rush Memorial Hospital last week for observation.

Gatewoods Relocate to New Bern NC After Move

Lt and Mrs Ronnie Gatewood and children departed last week for a new home at 622 Watson St New Bern North Carolina. Sorority notice states a meeting due to the Donkey Ballgame on February 16 will be held February 23 at Mrs Claude Pearson home with Cynthia Pearson as co host.

Garrett wins Rush County oratorical contest at Rushville

Ruth Ann Garrett of Morton Memorial High School won the Rush County Oratorical Contest held Sunday at the American Legion Building in Rushville. Gary Curtis of Rushville placed second, Valerie Veach of Mays third, and Arlene Ruby of Carthage fourth. Garrett will compete with seven other county winners in the District Oratorical Contest at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14, in the Legion Hall at Rushville. the public is invited.

Funeral for Mrs. Emma Mason Held in Knights Town

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Butcher Funeral Home Knights Town for 91 year old Emma Mason widow of the late Henry Mason. She was an aunt of Mrs. Hunt and Mrs. McClarnon and resided with her daughter Mrs. Helen Rogers, the sole immediate survivor.

Manchester College Wrestler Competes in 130 Pound Class

Larry Heim of Carthage and R R 2 North Manchester is listed as a junior chemistry major on Manchester College’s 1964-65 wrestling team. The Hoosier College Conference member will wrestle at the February 19–20 conference meet in Indianapolis and the team faces Taylor University on February 6 at 3:30 p.m. on the Taylor campus.

A Library Board meeting was held last Wednesday at the home of Nelle Beher. New officers are Wm Alexander president Willella Henley vice president and Mrs Harold Dixon secretary treasurer. Board members are Albert Terhune and Robert McKain. A dictionary was donated by Lillian Coleman and Hazel Cooper of near New Castle in memory of Howard E Henley.

Four Ways From The Office No 23 Speech Contest

The annual TB speech contest will be held in the study hall at 11 25 p m Wednesday February 10. School patrons are invited to attend. Kimberlee Tweedy was declared champion of the junior high division of the Rush County Spelling Bee Monday evening and Bernice Logan won third place in the high school division. Kim received a cap and Bernice was recipient of a medal at a convocation Tuesday morning.
