Farm Bureau Meets
The closing meeting of the Farm Bureau for the year was well attended and instructive. Ladies served hot oyster soup and coffee. A program featured proficient student musicians directed by Mr Wagner. Officers were elected for the new year. Speakers Mrs J B Terhune and others discussed timely farm topics, with audience approval. An aeroplane race stunt provided merriment, then county chairman Wal ter Bitner spoke followed by county agent H D VanMatre.

Physicians Who Served Carthage Since 1830 Recall
Owen S. Henley lists former Carthage resident physicians with approximate practice dates from 1830 onward. The first was Dr Stratton, who rode to calls. others include Dr Kersey, Dr Harris, Dr Patterson, and 1849’s Dr John M. Clark with a horse and gig. The roster grows to dozens, ending with current doctors G. B. McNabb and Alfred Storey, noting auto use began circa 1903.
